Graphic design for “Vico Magistretti and Japan”, organised at the Fondazione Vico Magistretti. The exhibition examines how a persistent interest in Japanese culture emerges throughout the work of the Milanese architect and designer, who developed projects with Japanese clients and designers, as well as with Italian companies operating in Japan. Archival materials (drawings, photographs, models, objects, videos) are presented alongside 1:6 miniature versions of Magistretti’s furniture, produced within ECAL’s Bachelor Industrial Design programme, and representations of his Japanese architectural projects by Dogma.

Merino wool’s Metamorphosis (Seraina Lareida, 2014)

This tapestry installation, currently on display in our Pop-Up store in Zurich, demonstrates material honesty: from strand to fabric, this is nature’s engineering without petroleum intervention.

Part of In Wool We Trust, presented at Design Miami/Basel 2014, and created as a collaboration between Mover, @ecal_ch and @thewoolmarkcompany. Workshop led by @camillebien and @ronanbouroullec.

Come see it, and touch it, for yourself, until December 24th at Füsslistrasse 6, Zurich.

UPS was also on display at the GALLERY L’ELAC in Renens from September 25 to October 18, 2024, where I had plenty of time to snap some nice images.

UPS - UNDER PRESSURE SOLUTIONS is an experimental research project by @ecal_ch aimed at reducing the environmental impact of the furniture industry through the use of shape memory materials.

#ProductDesign #ecal #FurnitureDesign #DesignProcess #UPS #DesignResearch

Now available in our online shop: the white Koivu jumper with embroidered pockets.
Inspired by the look of pockets hanging out of cut jeans, designer @camillebien introduced a subtle yet functional twist to the classic jumper.

Made to order, the embroidered jumper will take approximately 4 weeks to be shipped.

Conceived as a product rather than a fashion statement, the Koivu jumper is simply a very good simple jumper. Designed for everyday wear, it is meant to suit every wearer and occasion.
In its simplicity, it offers endless possibilities for reinterpretation. As a standard piece, it serves
as the perfect surface to be altered, customised, and reimagined in collaboration with designers and artists. An empty canvas, the jumper becomes the starting point and carrier for unexpected and surprising designs.
