Framed by the spindly red arch of Bangkok’s Giant Swing, she is monumental, her figure exaggerated against a blazing hot blue sky. Her black dress adds further grandeur - its papery folds referencing the pañelo’s crisp, starched form. In contrast, her earrings burst forth in an organic cluster of pale wood topped with pearls that glisten in the sunlight …

THE SOURCE

I.
I am the divine source
The beginning of everything
Blood and bone
Spirit and soul
I am the origin
But I’ve been left behind

II.
I cared for you
In my forests
I let you drink
From my sacred waters
To let you live
Among all who are alive
Your divine purpose
Your relationship with the living

III.
Do you not
Remember who I am?
Dust of stars
Breath of ocean
I am where you began
And where you end
