It's a wrap for now on @dansemacabre26. Thanks to the community who came out in their droves to see my play. Special shoutout to all our donors whose dollars truly paid for the services of our creatives and actors in the earlies. I want to pay nuff respects to these donors with as little as $25 to $500 of your hard earned cash made a big difference as we waited out the time for one more Arts Council funding that was disappointingly denied. So we press on. #gratitudeisamust🙏🏿❤️💛💚 to my cast , crew and fundraising team players. Big Spliff is officially DORA NOMINATED!🔥 What a blessing to be recognized for the work I’ve been putting in! Shout out to all the good people over at @tapa_to for nominating me. Also shout out to the whole Sankofa Trilogy team! I am humbled to have such a rich community of talented artists around me. Obviously Sound Designing 3 shows at once is not an easy thing to pull off, but I always had someone with me checking on my well-being and encouraging me to keep it up! Working on something so connected to my culture was such an honor. I learned a lot about myself and I had the opportunity to reimagine some of my favourite Dancehall Riddims for a Black theatre audience. This was definitely the dream. The vibes were immaculate and the jokes are timeless. I never remember to tell the world what’s happening in my life, but next time you see “SPLIFF ON THE SOUND” I hope you’ll come see wah gwan! Here’s a little sneak peek into what the Sankofa Trilogy Era looked and sounded like… Enjoy! - Spliff

Our week of benu closed out yesterday and it’s been nothing but magical and healing over the last number of weeks. What the community is saying: “d’bi.young anitafrika and the Griot Posse give another outstanding performance in benu. Their physicality throughout the performance is mesmerizing, mimicking the small skittish movements of birds throughout. KayGeni, Kabrena Robinson, Keira Forde, and Josemar are consistently proving their storytelling prowess with each new production.” - A View From The Box If you didn’t get the catch it yet, we still have 2 shows remaining as part of our marathon weekend this Sat, Oct 11th & Sun, October. 12th at 5PM. The elements of air, Magik and time travel make performing Benu feel like a whimsical day dream✨✨if you havent seen any of the shows yet, there is still time to grab tickets! This trilogy is more than theatre and transcends beyond what we have grown to expect on stage through a colonial lense and vantage point.
