TO BE KILLED - OCT. 28, 2021 A five star family pet, lived with kids, cats and spent time with other dogs, is not presenting well at the ACC. Khaleesi doesn’t feel comfortable around strangers and has a difficult time adjusting at the ACC. Khaleesi knows many commands, and is very smart! She is beautiful inside and out, playful and affectionate, she just needs time to realize that she needs to adapt quickly or the ACC will deem her as a dangerous dog. Please help Khaleesi ! ‼️River is at Risk tonight and will be euthanized tomorrow at 12pm‼️I will be at ACC at 110th tomorrow at 9am to see what I can possibly do but in order to help I really need a foster to apply through a rescue, I will literally hold your hand and help you through every step of the process, but we must act urgently! Great owner notes speak of a dog that lived in harmony in her family, was used to regular walks, loved to meet new dogs and just loved being a member of her family. But all that will end at noon tomorrow unless someone steps up to foster or adopt this good girl. She has so many years of being a loyal bff to a new human, so many years of meeting and greeting new neighborhood ‘buds, so many years of playing in the yard or the doggie park, so many years of being the loyal family dog she’s shown herself to be. The shelter thinks I am about #10YEARS old. 07/15 - surrender reason stated was OWNER DIED💔 . ***ACC is continuing to clear the shelter.*** 💔 Patches former owner passed away and now this 10 year old Australian Cattle Dog mix has got to find her way out of this house of horrors affectionately know as the “Animal Care Center.” She is an older gal who once knew the comforts of home but know must rest her older body on a hard, concrete floor with bars in front of her face. How confused she must be! She came in to the intake area all calm and relaxed. The assessor brought out the worst in her during the squeeze test. What dog LIKES to get their paw squeezed anyway? It was a snap that brought out the New Hope Rating for her. This poor things needs someone to apply to a New Hope partner in order to live out her years before her life took a detour. The shelter thinks I am about #10MONTHS old. 07/10 - surrender reason stated was PERS PROB😫 . ***ACC is continuing to clear the shelter.** "Your dog is gorgeous”, a passerby said to me, and I so wish I could simply say thank you and move on. Instead, I list Sammi’s outstanding attributes as she’s in need of a home. Sammi is not just a pretty face I tell this stranger, she’s playful, affectionate, sweet, knows how to sit for treats, takes them gently (in small pieces thank you very much!), has the perfect amount of puppy energy and never stops smiling! Sammi was surrendered to our care as her former owner has some personal problems, and tells us that Sammi lived with a 2 year old and is playful, loved to play with dogs in the dog park but can get too rough for the “littles”, doesn’t guard her things and is friendly to all. I loved my time with Sammi, she loves toys, sat right away, her markings are stunning, she’s been well taken care of, went potty as soon as we were out the door, and is simply everything a puppy should be. In her first playgroup she was playful and solicitous, bowing to other dogs in invitation. Sammi’s wish list includes lots of toys and balls as she loves to play and can amuse herself, a canine sibling would be nice or play dates with others, and an affectionate and loving human or two or three. The shelter thinks I am about #3YEARS old. 07/15 - surrender reason stated was MOVE2PRIVA😡 . ***ACC is continuing to clear the shelter.*** Anyone who’s ever said “beauty is only skin deep” hasn’t met Paige. Of course it’s impossible to talk about 3 year-old Paige without mention of her current state. She is missing most of her hair, completely covered in scabs, with old wounds and new. But to dwell on Paige’s appearance would be a mistake. Paige was surrendered to us and is said to love a good game of fetch, meeting new people, and children. For our first meeting she is easily leashed and the easiest of walkers, a blessing, as I cringe at the thought of putting anything against her tender skin. She waddles happily next to me (she is petite but plump), and after handling her business, accompanies me to a play pen. There, she solicits treats again and again, sitting and wagging her long tail furiously. Later, she rests her head in my lap, and though I long to grab her and hug her endlessly, I instead find a soft, unblemished spot behind her ear and rub it as gently as I can. It seems that to Paige, the world is beautiful, and so is she. She doesn’t notice the looks of sympathy we get walking the shelter’s halls or hear another volunteer’s whisper of “poor baby.” She comes in from the sun, warm and happy, and hops into her kennel without a care. Beauty is only skin deep, except when it’s as profound as the ocean and clear as the sky. Come and see sweet Paige today, and when you do, remember to look on her as if she is beautiful. Because pity is something she’d never understand. Because we are her only mirror. And because she is. Paige is waiting in adoptions at Manhattan’s ACC. 💔💔🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😢😢 . ***READ THIS TO SAVE THIS DOG! The shelter thinks I am about #3YEARS old. 07/09 - surrender reason stated was PETS CONFL😫 . **ACC is continuing to clear the shelter.** 3 year old Pititin was living happily with a teenager, a male Rotti and a little Shih. Then one day, he and the Shih got into a tussle over a treat and in the process of separating them, Pititin nipped his owner. Right to Manhattan ACC he went where he sat in a tiny cage for weeks waiting for a decision about him. Well, the decision has finally been handed down, his DOH Hold is lifted and he’s available for public adoption. But in the meantime, Pititin came down with the “shelter cold” and that sent him right to tomorrow’s euthanasia list. In reasonable health when he got there, he did reasonably well on his behavioral evaluation—reasonable considering that being on DOH hold, no volunteers could walk him, no doggie playgroups, no “dog enrichment” work with Pititin—just sitting and waiting for 10 days before they’d even assess him. Tonight, PItitin needs a Min Pin savvy person who has a safe, reassuring place for him to decompress from this horrific ordeal, can get him to a vet to check out his health, and can let him resume the Min Pin life he so thoroughly enjoyed before. But unless someone steps up to foster or adopt him by noon tomorrow, ACC won’t think twice about ending Pititin’s life and he’ll never ever understand why.💔💔🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😢😢 . ***READ THIS TO SAVE THIS DOG!
