POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Two panels. Endless ideas. One unforgettable festival.

Had the absolute privilege of speaking at @earthinfocus.co, diving deep into storytelling that inspires change and the complex beauty of coexistence with leopards.
Congratulations to @_daphneong and the entire team for curating such a powerful platform that celebrates voices shaping the future of conservation storytelling. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to be a part of it.

Honoured to share the stage, exchange ideas, and be part of a movement redefining how we see the wild. 🌿💫

Voice of @cap.ravi

I wrote these words while on a road trip to Leh , watching the mountains go by.

What do i see in these mountains!!

I see them sad, i see them in solitary confinement.. these lonely cones of stones, stare eagerly at every car that slices their body in an attempt to conquer them and cross over to the next mountain.

Are they expecting us to stop by, pat them, touch them with sympathy and relieve them of the curse of having to stand tall centuries over centuries sometimes, marking a valley, sometimes a border, sometimes a shelter to a village etc etc.

In my words ,, their thoughts!!

It blew my mind to see how family data over generations is maintained in Haridwar. I saw my Kapoor family records dating back to 1773, almost 250 yrs back in time!! It was surreal to see how my great grandfathers and ancestors before him, used to religiously turn up on the #gangaghat to bid final goodbyes to their family members and then ensure the event is recorded in the #bahikhata

What’s even more fascinating, is the fact that all of this data is catalogued without using any tech. While we pat our backs on every app release, we can’t think of pulling out a single pic that we wish to refer to, from as near as the last year without 100s of upward scrolls in the gallery. Our fb memory feature cant stand a chance in front of the panditji who is responsible for keeping the records up to date, generation over generation.

Mesmerised after watching how family record books were kept, the #gangaarti was also a serene experience. We tend to link all of this to religion, but I see a rich Indian heritage, which we all need to protect and conserve, no matter which god we believe in.

I hope Ivaan feels the same sense of belonging to the family tree when he reads this 40 yrs hence, as I felt today. #haridwar #familyrecords #harkipauri #ganga
