Fish Hoek Mile 2026

And that's a wrap folks.
As usual, such a pleasure to swim one of @swimcapetown events.
Always well organised and loads of happy vibes.
Big shout out to the safety crew out on the water that always have words of encouragement and smiles on their faces.

I loved this swim. The ocean held me and rocked me. It was just over too soon.

Thanks for the quality add on's. @spurt_sa @maurten_official

Fish Hoek Mile 2026

350 entries with 137 in skins
The weather kept us guessing until the last minute.

The race was moved to Sunday with the hopes that conditions would improve.
But alas, course was reduced due to high winds, swells and a bumpy ride.

We were just happy we could still swim.
Thanks @swimcapetown. Your nerves must have been shot until the end.

Thanks @capescotty for inviting to swim the Womens day mile with @swimcapetown. It was great to race such a competitive field being pushed by @carinabruwer the whole way! Air temps started at 5 degrees this morning, luckily a later start allowed the sun to peep through and with no wind the 14 degree fast swim made it bearable for me coming from Durban

Stay Safe
Stay Indoors

Monday and Tuesday we are in the grips of the storm hold on until it eases!

Wednesday afternoon the wind drops off quite a bit so it may be swimmable BUT look out for the swell at Fish Hoek and particularly Glencairn. The rips are very active at both beaches

Thursday is a cracker no wind and calm at the moment. So go swim

Friday the SE comes out of nowhere to start reminding us about summer. Get out early before it picks up

Saturday the South Easter is moderate to strong before turning ON on Sunday which is bot good at all at the moment. So stay indoors

Please consider your need to swim or be outdoors the next 24 hours as our Emergency services are under immense pressure. Let's be sensible

Have a great week

Scotty

Just Wow!

My heart is bursting with pride after watching Jess take part in her final WP High Schools Athletics Championships.

Jess sprinted to a personal best 58.88 and won a Silver Medal in the Girls Under 19 400m. It's worth mentioning that the final was a close affair with 4 girls all going sub 60 seconds!

Jess smashed her previous best of 59.31 at the 2025 Western Cape School Champs. In winning Silver today she has again earned a place in the Western Province High School's team to take part at the Western Cape Championships for the 4th consecutive year!

I'm so proud of the incredible Athlete and Person you are Jess. You have continued to make improvements again this season whilst continuing to excel academically also! As Athletics Captain at Reddam you have again represented them with humility and grace.

Congratulations Jess!
