Despite spending half this year revising for exams, it felt like the longest year yet because of all the new experiences I was able to cram in. Not only was I fortunate enough to meet so many incredible new people who I now feel like I’ve known my entire life, I’ve also ended the year substantially closer to the friends I already had despite spending the past three months an ocean away.

Every single person that I chose to spend my time with this year I admire with my whole heart. Every single one of you are smart, ambitious, funny and loving, and everytime you reach out to me I’m slightly shocked that you choose me to be worthy of your love also.

I throw myself into everything new because at the back of my mind I always remember the lucky chance encounters that let me stumble upon you, and how some of the best people in my life wouldn’t be here if I didn’t say yes to the one random that led me to them. I don’t care for impressing strangers anymore because if the most wonderful I know have chosen me back, no one else’s opinion can compare. Sometimes you reach out to me and tell me that you admire this ability to approach anyone, but you probably don’t realise that you are the reason I have the confidence to do so.

To everyone in America who I’ve met in the past three months, thank you for making this such an incredible experience so far. To everyone in England (and Scotland, Rudy) I miss you all terribly and can’t wait to see you again next year. To everyone in the rest of the world - Australia, Spain, Canada, The Netherlands, France and more, I can’t wait to see where my 2024 travels take me and I hope it will be somewhere near you.

To all the people, all the lovers, all my friends, this is the movie that’s running in my head :) thank you for the best year of my life so far
