Amazing doesn’t even begin to describe what the LJO crew experienced in Florida. Flood tides, unpredictable Florida weather, some of the most beautiful tailing fish we’ve ever laid eyes on, and a group of hardworking captains who live and breathe this incredible sport. But beyond the fishing, it was the people who made this trip unforgettable. What started as two groups of passionate fishermen coming together has turned into genuine friendships, mutual respect, and a bond that will last far beyond the water. These are the experiences we live for, the memories we’ll talk about all year, and the people who remind us why we love what we do. A huge thank you to @douglasflyfishing and @skwalafishing for supporting our crew throughout the @bellycrawlersbash and every adventure that followed. From chasing tailing fish on the flats to putting in long days on the water, every angler was armed with a Douglas SKY G 9’ 8wt and outfitted head to toe in Skwala Sol gear. We couldn’t have been happier with the performance, comfort, and confidence this equipment gave us. Most importantly, we’re incredibly grateful for every captain, angler, friend, and supporter who made this week possible. Being surrounded by people who share the same passion, work ethic, and respect for the fishery is something truly special. Montana to Florida. Different waters, same passion. There comes a point every winter when the water turns clear and we start pushing the skiff into creeks that look more like little drains than places you’d expect to find redfish. Then you round a corner and there they are. 20, 50, sometimes 100 fish packed into a creek barely wider than the boat. Backs breaking the surface. Eyes out of the water. Fish crawling across sandy bottom with hardly enough water to cover them. You can watch the whole school move, stop, turn and push down the creek in front of you. It’s hard to beat winter in the backcountry.
