Yesterday Kian turned 8! This year looked a little different though. Instead of celebrating with friends like we have in years past, I took you on a birthday cruise. This was something new, something bigger. A chance for you to explore, to grow, and to start discovering more of who you are.

The photos I’m sharing are from that adventure… and from a version of you that feels like it’s stepping into something new. 8 has always been my favorite number, so I have a feeling this might be one of your favorite years too. There’s something special about this age, right at the end of single digits, where you start learning yourself a little more, becoming a little more independent, a little more you.

I’m so proud of the person you are.
Happy 8th birthday, my crazy boy 💙

It took me 10 years to sign up for an individual competition.
This is only my second one.
For years, I let my mind decide my outcomes before my body ever had a chance. I’d hear “3…2…1…” and freeze. Not because I wasn’t fit enough but because I didn’t believe I was.
I doubted myself louder than anyone else ever could.
Until one day, I was just done.
I told Justin I wanted to have fun again. I wanted to see what I was actually capable of if I stopped shrinking. He didn’t hesitate. He hired me a coach before I could second guess myself. He believed in my potential when I was still negotiating with fear.
Training started in January.
It didn’t just build fitness.
It built confidence.
It built proof.
It built a version of me I had been hiding for years.
I was also guided to read The Brave Athlete and it changed everything about how I show up under pressure. Fear isn’t the enemy. It’s fuel.
Today I qualified for the Monster Games in my new age group division.
6th place.
One point out of 4th.
The qualifiers weren’t perfect but they were powerful. And for once, I didn’t freeze. I didn’t shrink. I didn’t disappear.
I competed.
I’m proud ,not just of the result, but of the fact that I finally let myself be the athlete I’ve always been.
I’m not scared of the event.
I’m ready.
