Speech and Debate has been my scapegoat for the past two years now, I've grown into myself and made new friends along the way. With the school year ending so is my sophomore season with that being said my favorite seniors are leaving and I don't know how to deal with it. Life isn't going to be the same without all of you! Especially THE Mason Warner!

Our Senior Spotlight this week, is Cara McDougald! She has been on the team for four years, competing in numerous events, but she enjoys Congress and Retold Story the most! We love Cara's ability to be versatile in multiple events, and her commitment to helping Novices on the team!

Favorite thing about Speech and Debate?
I have always enjoyed the community, I have truly met some of the most amazing people through this extracurricular! Outside of the already amazing people I have met, I love how Speech and Debatw brings me a place where I can have strong, intelligent conversations, with new perspectives and opinions that allow me to grow my knowledge. Speech and Debate has taught me to do so much more than just talk, it has taught me to advocate and use my voice to speak for what's right, and I have always valued that.

Plans After High School?
I plan on attending the University of Washington this Fall, and will stay their for 4 years. I wish to obtain my BSN RN (Bachelor's of Science in Nursing, Registered Nurse) and eventually become a Pediatric Nurse here in Idaho!
•
Biggest Accomplishment?
My biggest accomplishment is winning 2nd at State Retold in 2025 (last year), but another accomplishment that I am really proud of is this year at Blacksnake I won first in Retold Story, and first in Congressional Debate!

We wish Cara the best of luck with her future plans! We know she will accomplish great things!
