2/25/25 - Open Spaces was born!

One year ago today, we hit “publish” on the very first episode of Open Spaces.

But before there was a launch… before there were downloads… before there was a single listener… there was a living room full of friends & support!

One year ago, these people gathered in our home. They laid hands on us. They prayed over our family. They asked God to breathe on something we couldn’t fully see yet. They believed in the vision before it had momentum. They stood with us before there was proof.

As we talk about community in this series, there is no better picture of it than this.

Open Spaces didn’t start with microphones.
It started with prayer.
It started with people.
It started with faith.

One year later, we’re still standing because of the community that stood around us first. And we don’t take that lightly. 🖤

This week I got to watch @CaraDyba bless & honor her mother in her final moment on earth. These days made me even more grateful for a wife who walks the way of Jesus, holding onto redemption & beauty in the midst of complexity. For those who know Cara’s story, you know the depth of what I mean. Many children bury a parent with a mix of terrible and wonderful memories, knotted together in ways that quick explanations fail to untangle. But love covers what logic cannot. And I got to see that love embodied in Cara and her two sisters.

What a trip! This trip involved a couple of “firsts” for us. First time away from the kids. First time at @chickfila’s NEXT staff retreat. So fun and so full. So extremely proud of @megsbrim for working so hard to join the CFA staff and so proud of the work she’s done since she started. Go babe! Thankful to be brought along.
