We made it happen! I couldn't have asked for a better weekend with better people ❤️ On the land with my Michif kin 💯🙌. Marsii to all that made this weekend possible. I can't wait to do it again! Special marsii to @cdnroots for the Youth Empowerment Grant which not only created a space for young Métis, but also empowered us with the traditional skills, knowledge, and equipment to continue to practice our traditions. Thanks to @borealriverrescue for putting on the first whitewater rescue course in Manitoba since 2017. Our paddling community is itching to hit the water after a couple dry seasons! 34 people got certified last weekend!!! 😄

Snowshoeing at Harold Hatcher this morning in freezing fog was a blast! The kids had the best time looking for animal tracks, playing “what time is it mister wolf?” and searching for seeds and thistles buried beneath the snow.

Happy Birthday Peg City Yoga! 12 years ago today Noah opened the doors to Peg City Yoga at 213 1/2 Osborne St; and although we may have closed those same doors almost two years ago now, the community still lives on! Thank you to each and everyone of you who have been along for the ride. Whether you’ve been here since those early days or just joined us online recently, thank you for being here! The first summer of Waterways Inter Community Canoe Program (ICCP) was a massive success thanks to Waterways staff James and Caralynn (here they are in Long Plain) as well as the support of funding from the Sport for Social Development in Indigenous Communities grant. Through the ICCP we were able to offer culturally and community specific camps and workshops to communities new to us such as Misipawistik Cree Nation, Waywayseecappo First Nation, Skownan First Nation, Lake Manitoba First Nation, the Manitoba Métis Federation - Bison local @mmfbisonlocal and more! The SSDIC grant enabled us to support expanding community led, land-based programs and build new relationships for future programs. Meet Caralynn! . “When I’m not teaching at Peg City Yoga, I work with the Manitoba Aboriginal Sport and Recreation Council to empower Manitoba’s Indigenous population through sport and physical activity (I am Métis myself). I am in love with both of my jobs! I get to pour my soul into what I do and wouldn’t have it any other way. . I love to practice with my eyes closed. When I was fairly new to yoga, probably like my fifth class ever, I remember opening my eyes and somehow I had wound up facing the opposite way of the rest of the class!
