This weekend I turned 30 baby! ✨✨✨

I'm so looking forward to this next decade and I feel extremely grateful for the folk I have in my life to share it with 💖

I don't often share much on here about myself, I mainly keep it to work related stuff and even then I've not been posting much about my recent projects. I guess it's nice to have time to focus on all the other parts of life that are important. I love my job but it's also not everything about me and it's nice to get back to that a bit.

@thenewport_inn was such a special place to celebrate turning 30 at, I can't recommend it enough as a venue! We also had the wonderful @sookkitchen_ providing insanely tasty catering and @machairbakery coming in with the most beautiful birthday cake. All go and support the wonderful Dundee/Newport-on-tay local businesses 💖

AdOne thing we’ve always found is that reading becomes so much more exciting when children are free to choose books that reflect their own interests. Whatever they’re into, finding stories they genuinely connect with can make all the difference.📚🤍
We recently visited The Works’ Find Your Story book bus, where every child can choose a free book to take home. It was so lovely to see the children exploring books that sparked their curiosity, meeting their favourite book characters, taking part in workshops, and leaving with stories they couldn’t wait to read.
If the Find Your Story book bus is stopping near you this summer, it’s definitely worth a visit. Check the upcoming locations and let your little ones find their story too. ✨

It’s both tatreez and tea for me. I love tatreez and the skills of embroidery I learned from my mother. And, I love the tea. The tea is the drink, the storytelling part of the stitching circle, the proverbial tea. Tea is also me! Without life, there is no tatreez. My account (and my book Tatreez & Tea) has attempted to highlight both. Sharing about tatreez, my life and my work. To me, tatreez is about the ritual of relationships with self, each other, land, and our higher power. That’s what a stitching circle is meant to hold. 💟 I have empathy for the dresses, I don’t know how, but I do. This past week, I spent time with them (the dresses), in between the demands of research and the work surrounding the Thread Memory symposium. The dresses seemed really happy and loved in Dundee. They were beaming, I could tell. Thank you @racheldedman for being such a great champion of the Palestinian Museum, history and heritage, my work and the dresses. I am also sincerely grateful for the staff at @vadundee who absolutely adored this exhibition and took care of these dresses, dolls, headdresses and stewarded our history to the over 140,000 people who visited the exhibition. 💜🥹 When this exhibition originally opened we were looking for some place in this world to feel Palestinian life in such immense despair. Thread Memory created this space, but most importantly, called on us to do more. To do more than just look. To do more than just despair.
