Meant to post this yesterday and forgot so sorry that it's slightly belated... ~ Wishing a very special 69th birthday to one of the greatest funnymen of all time... ~ The great Andrew Clay Silverstein was born on September 29th, 1957 in Brooklyn, New York...but he is better known by his professional stage name of Andrew Dice Clay... ~ Though Making The Grade (1984) was not his film debut, it was his first major breakthrough hit as a budding actor/comedian as he had only appeared in a handful of TV show appearances and a cameo in Wacko in 1982 prior... ...and though he's billed in the film's opening credits as simply Andrew Clay, it was the debut of his stage name of "Diceman" which he would forever use afterwards in all his live comedy routines. ~ Happy birthday, Dice! WE WON TWO!!! 🏆🏆🙌🏾🎬 What an incredible weekend for RECALL! On the SAME DAY, we found out that Recall won: 🏆 Outstanding Surreal Short Film at the CineSoul Sacramento Black Film Festival 🏆 Best Sci-Fi at the Hip Hop Film Festival Two festivals. Two different cities. Two wins. 🙏🏾 I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who helped bring this film to life… and to everyone who has come out to a screening, shared the trailer, sent a message, or supported us along the way. We made Recall hoping to tell a meaningful story about hope, healing, faith and what happens when you refuse to stop searching for answers. And it is official 🥰🙌🏽 God has truly shown out for me! Last year was one of the most challenging years of my life with being newly married, moving to a new city and starting completely over career wise. I am so grateful for my husband supporting me and my dreams and that I stumbled upon @careyscott_rr and @therehearsalroomactingschool ! I participated in the 2025 winter showcase, not knowing what God would do on the other end of it. With 12 out of 16 shows in LA I made my way up the 5 every single week to perform for casting directors and agents. I was tired, sometimes unmotivated, but because of the support of my husband, a few friends @jeanette.schock , and my scene partner I wouldn’t have made it through. Two weeks ago I signed with @shamonfreitas for commercial representation in the San Diego area. And today I signed with @ntatalent as a commercial and commercial print actress! This is only the beginning. I am so grateful for it all.🫶🏽

Harken back to the days of Blockbuster Video and little Ma & Pa Independent video shops that dotted every street corner and shopping plaza outlet...📼 Thank you for not fucking this one up, Amazon...😜 Making The Grade (1984) had ALWAYS been one of my top 5 most beloved Judd Nelson movies, sitting pretty at number 3 after Breakfast Club (1985) and St Elmo's Fire (1985) and was one of those Judd films I saw when I was still a kid of only 12 in 1992, seeing it the very first time on one of the basic networks (don't remember anymore if it was 2, 5, 7, 9, or Fox 32) while channel surfing... ...But Blockbuster shoulda banned me cause I rented it soooo many fucken times until I finally bought my own VHS copy which got lost somewhere along the way of me moving so many times in my 20s and 30s... ...and it wasn't until September of 2024 that I finally got around to buying the blu-ray of it, followed by the DVD several months ago from Amazon... So having this on VHS again gives me a deep feeling of triumph and I'm literally fist bumping like Bender at the iconic ending of TBC!!!✊😎 Rare and OOP these VHS copies of it usually are veryyy expensive but Lady Luck musta been watching over me cause this copy was only $6.95 plus shipping/handling plus tax... Sure, it may look like a beat up mess, and it even has a musty smell to it (yes, I'm one of those that actually sniff old VHS tapes) but that just heightens the nostalgic feeling of it all... Making The Grade was Judd Nelson's 3rd film after his official debut in the never released Rock 'n' Roll Hotel (1983) followed by Fandango (originally filmed in 1983 though not released theatrically until January 25th, 1985) and was filmed entirely on location in Tennessee between November/December 1983 and was released in theaters in May of 1984... ...and according to Judd's interview in the special features of the Criterion Collection version of TBC, it was while filming MTG that he received the script to audition for the role of a character that would ultimately make him an iconic legend in 80s cinema, and the heart throb of millions of woman and the quesessentail bad boy role model of guys everywhere... ...John Bender💗
