September 2026, what a whirlwind. Here I am in front of an ICE detention center, more on that later. Through all the days on set, the days running around with a video camera and the coffee meet ups with old friends and new, something came to mind: I really love the social aspect of what I do. The people I get to meet, the lives I get a window into, the jokes, the goofiness and making each other laugh, but also the real stuff I get to be a part of. The month started out with some down time so I made time for a couple of coffee hangs, then our Hawaii vacation got cancelled due to Hurricane Lowell. That turned out better for me because I needed every extra day to prepare for a wild 2 weeks where I’d shoot 7 days in a row including 3 days of documentary shooting in Bakersfield for @ufwfoundation, where I got footage of a detention center on an aptly gloomy afternoon. I felt a mixture of things: frustration with our country that both affords me the life I have while actively preventing others from doing the same, pride in my daughter as she smoked some kid at air hockey at Chuck E Cheese, and the ups and downs of losing a vacation only to spend the time working with friends who make my job not feel like a job. I guess life is about all of that, and I’m grateful for what the not good stuff teaches me as well as the good stuff that makes it all feel worth it. Photo of a person standing in front of a gloomy desert scene. A building is legible in the distance. The caption describes it as an ICE detention facility.

that last picture is my mood when I realize it’s practically Halloween, which means it’s practically thanksgiving, which means it’s really almost Christmas, so that means that it’s practically 2027 already…😵‍💫🥴
