ONE LAST RACKET!

Join us this Saturday, October 17, for the Performance Festival + Exhibition Closing of A Racket of Banshees: Goddesses and Monsters Reimagined at the Los Angeles Valley College Art Gallery.

The Association of Hysteric Curators brings together feminist artists working across performance, painting, sculpture, femmage, video, and installation to challenge traditional representations of goddesses, monsters, and the unruly feminine.

Our closing festival celebrates the power of performance as a form of resistance, transformation, and collective expression. Through ritual, storytelling, humor, movement, and the body, participating artists explore new ways to make feminist voices visible and heard.

This is your last chance to experience our travelling works-on-paper exhibition at LAVC and join us for an afternoon of live performance. We hope to see you there!

Vogue, if you’re looking for your next cover girls… Goldie & Muñeca are ready for their close-ups!

Our mares were the muses for our very first Returning Ranchers Sip N’ Paint, roaming The Corral while our guests sipped, painted, and enjoyed the company of these very glamorous models. 🍷🎨🐴

Thank you, Julie Jorge, with @wndorcutt for leading us through such a fun and creative evening adventure!

We think Goldie & Muñeca may have just discovered their calling... 📸

A small study made after my trip to Japan. Acrylic & gold ink on Grafix drawing film (duralar), 12 x 9 inches.
.
It really is so difficult to photograph my paintings due to how they shift with the light. The metallic & iridescent parts that come forward and then recede spatially. Of course, there is great meaning for me in this - in the expression of the ephemeral, ever-shifting nature of being alive. I hope these come alive in each of us and our shifting perceptions.
.
Meanwhile, so much gratitude to @juliosims.studio for doing such a brilliant job of photographing my art (and not yet killing me in the process). The one here is just my iPhone while he toils on the difficult ones.

The opening at the Wignall Museum for A Racket of Banshees: Goddesses and Monsters Re-Imagined was incredible! Thank you to everyone who made it out to celebrate with us. And a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to our community altar celebrating the lives of Betye Saar, Dolly Parton, Gloria Steinham, Yayoi Kusama, and Tim Curry.

Organized by the Association of Hysteric Curators @associationofhystericcurators, the exhibition brings together contemporary feminist artists reimagining goddesses, monsters, mythology, and the supernatural through contemporary experience.

On Saturday Xavier Cortez and I pulled up to the opening reception @ the Wignall Museum of Contemporary Art @ Chaffey College to see A Racket of Banshees: Goddesses and Monsters Re-Imagined curated by Rebecca Trawick
The exhibition explores themes of the monstrous and unruly feminine thru painting, sculpture, video @ mixed media objects.

—an electric aura filled the space-a lot to see and feel in this intriguing exhibition and interesting exchanges with some of the artists.

A Racket of Banshees
Goddesses and Monsters Re-Imagined Curated by the Association of Hysteric
Curators
September 8- November 14, 2026

“A Racket of Banshees: Goddesses and Monsters Re-Imagined” invites viewers into a world of myth, feminist archetypes, and speculative futures.
Expanding on the 2023 online exhibition “Goddesses and Monsters” presented with LADIES’ ROOM, Los Angeles, this 2026 exhibition features returning and new contemporary feminist artists across sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, video, performance, and community workshops.
Blending the-divine-ane-the-monstrous, the exhibition explores transformation, gender equity, and imagined futures.
Monsters challenge the status quo, while goddesses illuminate unknown possibilities. Together, they create a space between myth and reality where viewers are invited to reflect on what must end, what can emerge anew, and how another world might be possible.

Collages & Limited Edition Archival Prints ✨
.
Here are a batch of my more recent favorites- of original handmade collages in black bound books. They are like little quick paintings - over the years (I started in 1997 as a secret practice) they have become more abstract. They are spatial, textural, playful, I hope surprising and unexpected. They help me access the imaginal, dreamworld through color, texture, memory. And when I get stuck in my painting practice, I move to making these in order to open up stuck pathways, get into play & pleasure, and tap into freshness and a deeper mindspace.

I am currently offering a limited number of private one-on-one art sessions for artists and creative practitioners who are already in relationship with their work (in whatever state that may be). This includes visual artists, as well as writers, performers, musicians, therapists, and others who are moving toward visual art as a parallel or emerging practice. And who want to grow their potential & possibilities.

These sessions aren’t about instruction - they’re more like sitting together with the work - looking, listening, noticing patterns, tensions, and possibilities. A space to articulate what’s present, what feels alive, and what may want more time or care. I offer reflection, feedback, and context, drawing from visual art practices, art history, shadow work, archetypes, tools, and imaginal inquiry, always in response to what you and your work is asking. And attuned to the particular intelligence of your work.

Other things we may address include materials, processes, creating more flow in the studio, techniques, resources, and if desired, ways to share your work in the world.

Sessions are held on Zoom, with some in-person sessions in LA available. I work in short series as well as longer, ongoing engagements.

If this feels aligned, I’m happy to offer a 20 minute Zoom conversation to see if the work is a good fit. Email carole@carolesilverstein.com to schedule a conversation.

The world needs your gold and your light.
