Save this game for next time — all you need is a ball and a bottle.

Set everybody up on a line or a semi-circle. Use a boogie board to help smooth out the sand. We roll deep and have a family of 20+ playing, so seating gets tight. Rotate seats each game when people start to complain 😂

The goal: knock over the bottle.

Keep up the fun by staying in the game and calling out your family members every time you knock it down. The kids love to play, too. Set up one kid down by the bottle to be your catcher.

Last one left (the loser) has to do “something” — your choice as a group.

Sample tasks:
• bring everyone a round
• jump in the water
• carry extra chairs off the beach
• buy dinner

Get creative.

15 days post-opp | 3 days after leaving a 12 day hospital stay | A successful colorectal resection | one stent to cure a complication of pancreatitis | And she goes to her cousins wedding in Virginia 🚘

Crazy? Dedicated? Lucky?

I’ll take them all. I love to show up. I hate to sit still which is different than resting in my opinion. Before you get intense on me, I was cleared to go.

I was surprised by my strength and endurance. I knew I’d have a good time but I thought I’d be a wallflower. But time and time again I learn TO GO. It always works out.

I’m on the road of recovery and it’s my path only. Navigating it has been interesting. Today was the first day since March 13 when I got my colonoscopy and learned of my polyps that o was able to exhale. It came with tears. Like reality of what I’ve been thru good and bad hit all at once.

Diagnosis. 3 anesthesia procedures in March. Painting 7 murals in April. A trip to the Bahamas for my brothers wedding, only to come home to cancer surgery. What should have been 3-5 days turns into 12 then immediately in a car to celebrate loved ones greatest life milestones.

Show up. It’s the best you can do in life 💛 thanks so much for doing that for me! Here’s an update with a little less sedation ;)

Sleeps for the dead, between 3am and 6am I call it prime time stick and poke. And not in any good ways lol just pure blood intakes, vitals, and bed alarms going off bc they don’t want you to pee alone. I WON THAT BATTLE ON Day 11 and have the freedom to get up as I please.

I did, however, think a woman was coming in to wake me up to to give me a lovely appetizer plate of @fuddruckers pickles, with a side of warm pump cheese, when she was just trying to offer me Tylenol in a little plastic cup. It was a weird 15 seconds but she has a good sense of humor as a I came to.

So the meds are working.

And I guess I’m still a little theatrical. Def can’t lose yourself in the process 😉

Day 11 in the hospital brings:
• (more) @wendys Frostys
• new diets
• new scans
• better blood results
• and more improvements

I see the light at the end of the tunnel. My cancer surgery (resection) was successful and pathology came back clear — I’m cancer free! Just battling a pancreatic issue now and then I’ll be home free!
