Here the marigold, there the nodding violet. For they whisper sweet lullabies, sweet words of solace, tend softly to my dearest heart. Upon the hush-a-by hours, the poetry of petals and peace with the contemporary Australian artist.

I most definitely have blue days where I doubt the quality of what I’ve painted.
And on those days I’ve noticed that sharing my work can make that feeling much worse.
Why?
Scroll down to some of my earlier paintings and you’ll see that far, far more people liked them.
Scroll up to a recent post and Oh! The comparison is depressing! According to the numbers the more I paint the worse I get!

But that doesn’t tally with how I personally feel. I do believe my paintings are improving, that my style is more pronounced, that I get closer with each painting to what I’m trying to express. The numbers shouldn’t affect me… but they do!

I know I’m not alone in this though. Other artists have spoken to me about not feeling like their work is being seen and how those dwindling likes are an easy way to erode their artistic confidence.

My message to you (and myself!) is to ignore the numbers.
Accept that to be on here, in fact to be an artist, is always to be painfully visible. Trust that the people who care will find you. Remind yourself that the belief in the quality of your work has to start and end with yourself. (If not, then why make and share it in the first place?)

So let’s be painfully visible. Put yourself out there!
Believe in what you’ve made!
Do not be discouraged! Blue days are inevitable. Accept this. Don’t feel ignored; instead, ignore the numbers.
Learn to trust and prize what you have made without the need for a system that was not made with your creative ego or mental health in mind!

I hope this resonates and please, if you’d like me to comment on your work today just ask below! I’d love to do my best to support your creativity and (hopefully) make your day a little less blue.

Here among the rose-sweet reds, daffodil yellows and camellia pinks. Catching the scent of sun-kissed petals and softly smiling blooms. The fragrance of memories by the contemporary Australian artist.

AD- Sadness wanders between the subtle layers, winds a melancholic path through the broken brushwork. Hope finds sanctuary, finds freedom in the radiant colours. A comforting, cathartic profusion by the contemporary Australian artist. .
