Love that we get to do this again 🎻❤️ Southside of the Tracks 2027 - Sat 9th January 2027 A one-night celebration of extraordinary songs, musicianship and collaboration. Southside Of The Tracks returns to kick off the 2027 at The Queens Hall, bringing together some of the most exciting voices in contemporary folk, roots and songwriting for a night built around the thing we love most: brilliant musicians making music together. At the heart of the show is an exceptional house band featuring John McCusker, John Blease, Ewen Vernal, Ian Carr, Kris Drever and Toby Shaer - six musicians whose collective careers span some of the most celebrated records, stages and collaborations in folk and roots music. Joining them in 2027 is a remarkable line-up of guest artists … Aimee Carty, Rachel Sermanni, Joshua Burnside and Siobhan Miller and we’re not quite finished yet … two more very special guests are still to be revealed. We’re keeping their names under wraps for now, but Southside 2027 will include the first glimpse of a brand-new musical collaboration before it heads out into the world, alongside a very special young guest representing the next generation of Scotland’s extraordinary traditional music story. More on both of those soon.

Starting in 2004 I became a semi regular tutor at Zoukfest in New Mexico, and at one of these music camps the camp director, Roger Landes, suggested a lineup of just mandolin and bodhran for a solo album of traditional tunes. I went a step further and made ‘A Splendid Notion’ with Shooglenifty pal James Mackintosh on drum kit. I’d always wanted to do a follow up and that opportunity came in the 2024 when James and I teamed up with guitarist Ian Carr in a wee hall in Sweden and recorded ‘More Splendid Notions’. In October of 2025 we toured up the East Coast of Australia for a couple weeks. Ably assisted by Erick Jaskowiack on sound, these three instruments blended wonderfully I reckon. After playing together in Glasgow at Celtic Connections earlier this year I’ve got a full head of steam to find more ways to be in the same hemisphere, country and room as James and Ian so we can have a ball making more music together again. Stay tuned! ——— #folk #folkmusic #mandolin

Ian Carr — Musikaliska arrangemang & Sju-attan på gitarr Ian Carr anses vara en av de bästa och mest originella folkmusik-gitarrister i sin generation. Född i Bangor, Nord Wales.

A photograph doesn’t just need to show people what something looks like … it needs to show them what it FEELS like. (Please forgive the shouty caps but it needs emphasis!) Earlier this year, we photographed @thescottishchristmassongbook ready for tickets going on sale. The images were beautifully shot and professionally produced, but every time we looked at them, we found ourselves asking the same question … “If I’d never been to this show before, would I understand what makes it so special?” The answer was … not quite. Something was missing, not because the photography wasn’t excellent but because this show has never just been about the musicians on stage. It’s about the laughter in the green room before the first note, the warmth that fills the room, the genuine friendships that have been built over decades and the colour, the energy, and the feeling that Christmas has properly begun. You can’t manufacture those things, but you can create the conditions for them to shine through, so when we planned this second shoot, we stopped talking about poses and started talking about atmosphere. We spoke about joy and celebration and inviting someone to look at a photograph and think “I want to be in that room.” Huge credit to @sandybcamera , who instinctively understood what we were trying to capture. This isn’t simply a promotional image, it FEELS like the show (shouty caps again!) and that’s a lesson we’ll carry into every creative project we work on. Whether you’re creating a website, a campaign, a logo or a photograph, the question isn’t “What do we want people to see?” It’s “What do we want people to feel?” When you’re clear on the feeling, the creative decisions become so much easier because the best creative work doesn’t just document reality, it reveals the truth. If you need a little help with your creative work, we’d be delighted to help … drop us a DM or email hello@everythingandnothingpr.com ~ Everything & Nothing ~

Before colours and fonts and layouts, every design project starts with a feeling we’re trying to capture. This week we were working on the tour campaign for @johnmccuskermusic and @carriandavid ‘s upcoming German tour. The challenge wasn’t designing a poster, it was capturing what happens when two friends with enormous affection for one another, who’ve spent decades immersed in folk music sit down and play together. The music is warm and unforced so we tried to make the artwork feel the same way. Plenty of space, nothing unnecessary, just two friends happy in each other’s company, and the story they’re inviting audiences into. Good design isn’t about fluff and decoration, it’s about translation of a feeling and the job is to take that feeling and make it visible.
