We had so much fun at the Babywearing Dance Meet-Up at To the Pointe Dance Studio with @mel.leitecommel! Getting to dance, connect with other moms, get our feeding questions answered, and make memories with my little one was so special. 🥰

And slow dancing together while singing You Are My Sunshine—the song I’ve been singing to him since I was pregnant—was definitely my favorite moment. 🥹

I had to do the trend 😂

except make it moms dancing with babies strapped to them.

I’m still kind of obsessed with how cute this turned out. Everyone just went with it, nobody took themselves too seriously, and somehow the babies were either VERY entertained or completely asleep 😭

10/10 Saturday activity if you ask me.

today’s baila conmigo, bebé was sooo much fun 🥹🤍

this first one was honestly very much an intro to babywearing movement + finding the beat because I wanted to see everyone’s comfort level first… and everyone did SO good.

mamas danced, babies vibed, and I think we had like FIVE babies completely pass out 😂 so I’m taking that as a very solid review.

thank you to everyone who came, danced, laughed, fed babies, wore babies, and just hung out with us. this is exactly the kind of little community I wanted to create.

Melissa from @carriedtogetherco and I are already talking about what’s next… more dancing? breastfeeding + babywearing? carrier meetups? fit checks? maybe a little bit of everything 👀

I asked 26 babywearing educators one question:
“Why did you become a babywearing educator?”
Each answer was unique, but the common theme is that we all started somewhere.

Some of us struggled with a carrier that didn’t feel right.
Some of us wished someone had shown us how. For many of us babywearing became an important part of our own parenting journey. And all of us want other families to have an easier experience than we did.

For all the reasons that brought us here, we’re all here with the same desire:
To help families experience the good parts of babywearing with a little less frustration and a little more confidence.

These are just some of the stories behind the people who teach, support, troubleshoot, and encourage families through their babywearing and parenting journeys.

Today I turn 31. 🤍

And somehow, every year my birthday falls during World Breastfeeding Week.

If you had told me 10 years ago that I’d end up with a degree in Human Lactation, I would’ve laughed. 😂

My life was all over the place. I grew up in five countries, moved more times than I can count, went to what felt like 15 different schools, skipped my last year of high school in Brazil, started a psychology degree, never finished it… I honestly had no idea what I was supposed to do with my life.

Then I got pregnant with Bella.

What started as curiosity became a calling.

I went from being a WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor to graduating this year with a degree in Maternal and Child Health, Human Lactation.

The funny thing is, I thought I was studying breastfeeding.

Instead, I fell in love with public health, maternal health, and the policies that shape how families feed their babies.

It wasn’t an easy road. I left a stable county job to finish my clinical hours, made plenty of mistakes along the way, and learned that growth usually comes with a little discomfort.

One thing I’ve always wanted was to use my languages for something meaningful. Growing up between cultures sometimes felt confusing, but now I finally get to use English, Portuguese, Spanish, Mandarin, and Taiwanese to serve families. Looking back, I don’t think any of that was an accident.

In one month, I’ll be sitting for my international board exam.

I’m excited, nervous, and mostly just grateful.

Grateful for my husband, my girls, everyone who’s believed in me, and every family who’s trusted me with their story.

Happy World Breastfeeding Week, and happy birthday to me. 🤍

Here’s to 31, and to whatever God has planned next.

"What’s the best carrier" is such a common question… and the answer can be so different from one person to another. The right answer is always the one that fits your body, your baby and your family needs in one specific moment of your life. So… what’s your current fave right now?

That being said, there are definitely lower quality carriers made from poor materials or counterfeit products. Our statement that there is no single best choice applies only to quality carriers, including both modern structured designs and traditional carriers.

If you or someone you know wants to try different options to find the best fit for you, a great solution is to reach out to a local consultant - or passionate friends who collects carriers (educators, feel free to let a comment with your location for people to find you easily!)

Your arms are tired. Your back hurts. You feel like you haven’t put your baby down in days.

(Plot twist: babywearing means you can pee, poop, and eat a full meal with both hands free. Your baby will not file a complaint. They genuinely could not care less.)

And honestly, to save your back and arms? Baby carrying is one of the best things you can do. It’s not just convenience, it’s actually working in your favor in ways you probably weren’t told about.

Here’s the thing nobody tells you. Babywearing and breastfeeding aren’t separate worlds. They actually run on the same hormone. Holding your baby close raises your oxytocin, and that’s the exact same hormone behind your milk letting down. So the thing that calms your baby is also quietly helping you feed them.

We’re two mamas first. @mel.leitecommel (lactation) and @carriedtogetherco (babywearing) second. Same belief either way: you don’t have to figure this out alone.
