POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We’re excited to introduce our upcoming show, Mitgift, which opens Friday, October 30 at S-Gallery in East Hollywood (More info in bio) as part of @b_la_m_

For the first teaser, we’re introducing longtime Noysky Projects collaborator, @carsten_becker , and member of Berlin based collective, @frontviews_

Carsten Becker’s TGL series examines how color is encoded and administered through the industrial and technical standards of the former German Democratic Republic (GDR). Reconstructing state-prescribed colors from historical registers and standard sheets, the series reveals their political and material histories. Among them, Twilight Grey 2403, introduced in 1988, disappeared just two years later with the state that prescribed it.

Pictured: Flaschen (Olivgrün, Dämmergrau, Schwarzgrau) / Bottles (Olive Green, Twilight Grey, Black Grey), 2026, pigment print, 23.2 × 16.5 inches

Judgment and Calculation – Three Systems of Color: Elisabeth Sonneck, Carsten Becker, Harm van den Dorpel

At the centre are three systems through which colour is produced: the bodily process of painting, historical colour standards, and the algorithm.

Sonneck layers colour on paper, which she arranges into site-specific installations. Becker reproduces RAL colours and the GDR’s TGL standards — the latter vanished with the state. Van den Dorpel generates colour algorithmically across distributed systems.

Body, norm, algorithm — three different configurations of judgment and calculation.

Until August 22 at Frontviews/HAUNT, Kluckstraße 23, 10785 Berlin.

At Alfred Ehrhardt Stiftung this week, the exhibition ‘Seeing the World in a Grain of Sand’ brings together the photomicrographic works of Matthias Burba and an interactive video work by Max Seeger, revealing sand as a multifaceted visual field. Through the pieces, the material is shown to be a carrier of ecological, cultural and historical processes. Also exploring how heritage is carried, ‘Lineage’ at Ballhaus Ost is a drag theater play by Corazón insisting on how shared experience and veneration of the same icons and figures bring people together.
