C-A-M-P - For the past 6 years that I have been attending Farmer’s Union Camp, I have had amazing experiences. This camp, in particular, is so very special to me. It has taught me so much… from meeting so many different kinds of people, to gaining confidence… I felt I could be my true self through it all. I want to thank everyone I have met over the years that has helped me to become a better person. From the deep conversations at 3 a.m., to doing stupid stuff in the talent show, all the way to playing volleyball in the lake, and almost kicking the counselor’s butts in corn hole, has taught me to be thankful for what I have created. All the memories, all the moments, and all the friendships that I truly believe will last for a lifetime.
C - (THE CAMPFIRES) - they have held all of the skits, sand, stories, speeches and all of the words of seniors attending their last camp. This year, Carter, Matthew, Maksim and I, were honored to share our recollections and our sorrow as it was our last opportunity to be campers.
A - (THE ADVENTURE) - going out of your comfort zone and enjoying your time for what it’s worth is the most valuable part of camp. Signing up for pretty much everything and making new connections is what makes camp so special.
M - (THE MINUTES) - for all of the minutes I am at camp is not a minute wasted. Flagpole, KP duty, the Co-op Store, goodnight circle, Vive la Compagnie, the bean bags, bracelet making, line dancing, 9-square, the lake, volleyball, the weird food combinations and the banquet are just some of the things that are unforgettable about camp.
P - (THE PEOPLE) - since day one, there has been people that have had my back. The mental health talks, the emotional connections, and the advice that we all share brings us so close. You guys are my family and will forever be apart of who I am.
It is safe to say that Farmer’s Union Camp has a big place in my heart. This is an end of an era for being a camper, but not the last goodbye. I hope to become a counselor next summer and continue being in a place I love and surrounding myself with people that continue to make camp, C-A-M-P
