Precious time in Ponderosa with my parents. These two are some of the biggest blessings in my life. I had one of those moments- when my Dad was rigging my fishing pole for summer... Lord thank you for these precious gifts. ♥️

Mom and dad recently enjoyed a wonderful long weekend together with our daughter, Sarah, at her beautiful airbnb cabin “CasaPondo”, up in the Sequoia National Forest. Each fall is planting season when the girls plant hundreds of flower bulbs to be enjoyed next spring.
So proud of this girl 🥲

We left on a Sunday and the snow arrived on Monday! #casapondo #ponderosa

And hardly anyone knows about it!

Here’s a quick guide to visiting Dome Rock in the Sequoia National Forest👇

📍 Location: Sequoia National Forest, near Ponderosa, CA
🌲- we stayed in @casapondo
🚗 Getting There: Take Highway 190 east past Springville → Turn onto Western Divide Highway → Look for a small dirt turnout marked “Dome Rock”
🥾 Hike: 0.5 miles round trip, easy walk from the parking area. My 8 year old girl could easily do it (for reference)
⛰️ What to Expect: Epic panoramic views, insane sunsets, and stargazing—all for free!
⏳ Best Time to Visit: Late spring to early fall (roads may close in winter)
🔥 Bonus: A top spot for rock climbing & photography

Follow @blue.ilaa for more underrated spots and adventure travel.

Hi!👋 I’m Sarah and I’m your host at Casa Pondo! This cabin has been an absolute dream come true! Growing up, family vacations consisted of tent camping all over Northern California. I grew to love the outdoors and spent many summers working at a camp among the redwoods in the Santa Cruz mountains.

While I currently reside in a tiny studio apartment in the heart of Los Angeles, I love retreating to the mountains to slow down, reflect, and connect with God, friends and family. Not to mention, to smell those pine trees!🥰

Purchasing a cabin on a remote mountaintop has not been without its challenges. We’ve had devastating wildfires, destructive winters, and the heartbreaking tragedy of losing our beloved local Ponderosa Lodge in a fire.

All in all, it’s been a true gift and beautiful experience. I’ve met the most precious, supportive, helpful neighbors who have become fast friends and I’ve been so very blessed to share my home with guests. I get messages like:
“My son saw snow for the first time!”
“Even my teenage daughter put her phone down and played outside with the family!”
“My wife and I saw shooting stars from the deck!”

It’s a true joy and honor to share my very special home away from home with you. I absolutely dream of restoring other rundown homes in the future.
Thanks for visiting! Come back soon!
🤍Sarah
