POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We got to spend a week at Cassandra’s aunt & uncle’s cabin in Maine. Added two states to the places we have been (tiniest chunk of New Hampshire), worked a little bit, swam in the lake off the dock, went kayaking, rode ATVs, swam off the back of the boat, saw uncle Paul launch a bajillion fireworks, had fire pit conversations, saw a beaver, saw a tank, and heard a bunch of birds we have never heard before. What a great trip. Tomorrow we set off on our drive back to CT before flying back home. Next trip in T-minus 10 days!

Happy birthday, @katieleyhane! From tiny nugget to MBA graduate to BEING FREAKING MOM, I am so proud of my sister. It’s tough to be so far away, but I am glad we have been able to share so many life events together and I can’t wait to see you and your newest addition to the family soon!

“This weekend, we are celebrating mom.” - Oliver

And that we did. We spent a weekend getting coffee, hanging out, dance party-ing, and laughing. @cassandrayost is one of the most rad people I know and Oliver couldn’t have a better mama.

Whenever people say how kind Oliver is, how smart he is, how sweet he is, or how funny he is, I think about how much of that comes from Cal’s unending love for him and her exceptionally supportive nature. From his crazy knowledge of marine biology to his never ending collection of “treasures” (sticks, rocks, pinecones, shells, etc), to almost crying when he hears a song that is “just too beautiful,” to his sense of social justice (like when he told his own soccer teammate not to get the ball because he was passing it to the kid who hadn’t really had a chance with the ball), Cal’s love for him and drive to give him the world is at play.

Thank you for being the best mama around.

Took a quick trip to Tacoma last weekend to hit up the @ptdefiancezoo and had a blast. Saw my first guitarfish, saw a musk ox look like a puppy, my first red wolves, a walrus made a bunch of fart sounds, and several rad views of Mt. Rainier. Grabbed some fish tacos and hit Owen Beach. Solid little weekend trip!!

Sure, it added 250 miles and hours of SF rush hour traffic to our drive home from my cousin’s wedding, but we’ve been trying to take Oliver to the @montereybayaquarium for FOREVER. And it was WORTH ITTTTT.

He keeps talking about the giant deep sea isopod he got to touch and I got to snag @nachobiz831 on our way out of town.

Monterey is easily a top three city in California for us, and getting to share it with Oliver, even if it was just for half a day, was so great. Shout-out to @montereyhostel for a killer place to stay.

After @thealabamaramble told me to go to McMinnville to check out the Spruce Goose at the @evergreenmuseum, we did just that.

This place is pretty spectacular and LOADS of history of all things air and space.

Finished it off with Oliver’s “favorite restaurant” for dinner.

Tides were low. Vibes were high.

Oliver had his first soccer game on Friday after two weeks of practice.

Does he fully know what he’s supposed to be doing? No.

Does he have a strong competitive spirit? Also no.

Does he absolutely love being a part of it and cheering on literally every other person on the pitch? YES.

Coach Thomas and the rest of the folks at @eugenemetrofutbolclub have been great and Oliver loves being a part of it.

Wishing the happiest of birthdays to the best partner, mama, prolific reader, beach babe, trailblazer, adventurer I could ever hope for. Last year saw us hit three corners of the country, a vanlife adventure, lots of beach visits, rock hunting, great hikes, seeing family from across the world, and lots of cuddling and laughter. I can’t wait to see what adventures the next year brings!

I was asked to take pictures of a whole slew of family, or as I call it, the 2024 Carlsbad Cracker Convention.

Cal, Oliver, and I took a bit of a roadtrip to join a bunch of aunts, uncles, cousins, and Oliver’s great-grandma Karen for more than a week of shenanigans.
