Catalyst Collaborative Farm is a land-based project that centers queer and BIPOC land stewards, entrepreneurs, and allies to grow food and medicine.

What happens when we put repair at the center of the conversation about land?

Monti brought this question and WILDSEED’s living story of reparative land stewardship to the stage at Caney Fork Farms, representing @wildseedcommunity, @catalystcollaborativefarm, and @webatuckfarmers in a conversation moderated by former Vice President Al Gore of @caneyforkfarms.

We’re proud to see this inquiry taking its place in wider conversations about land access and regenerative agriculture, inviting people to reflect on their own relationships with land, resources, and responsibility.

WILDSEED began with a reparative gift of land. Today, we’re growing a sanctuary for BIPOC stewardship, healing, and collective possibility. Alongside our partners in the Webatuck Valley Farm Collaborative, we’re building pathways for farmers to access land, share resources, and nourish our communities.

As farmland changes hands, who gets access and on what terms will shape our food system for generations. Our story brings lived experience into that conversation, inviting those with land, wealth, and resources to consider their part in what comes next.

We’re energized to see the questions rooted in our work reaching new audiences, creating openings for deeper dialogue, new relationships, and reparative action.

Much gratitude to fellow panelists Will Holloway of @longertablefarm, Justin Bruch of Clear Frontier Ag Management , and Kristina Villa of @thefarmerslandtrust, and to @farmpreneurs_ for gathering this community and making space for these conversations.

Sweetness is an inheritance. 🌾🖤 So grateful to be part of Sweet Freedom Farm’s annual Sorghum Harvest Festival—to celebrate abundance, learn together, and savor the sweetness of community.

An altar honoring Black ancestors held offerings of sorghum, amaranth, flowers, and more. The harvest rested beside their portraits, reminding us that our inheritance includes seeds, knowledge, courage, and care.

With deep roots in African foodways, sorghum carries generations of nourishment, ingenuity, and survival. Growing it today is a practice of ancestral healing: reconnecting with traditions that sustained communities through displacement and reclaiming our relationship with land as a source of belonging and joy.

It is also wealth reclamation in practice. Seeds saved. Knowledge shared. Farmers earning a livelihood. Communities shaping how food is grown, processed, and distributed—building resources and possibilities for generations to come.

We also visited the sugar shack, learning how sap from the maple trees they tap becomes syrup, and enjoyed delicious sorghum cookies topped with ice cream. Such a beautiful taste of what land, patient tending, and creativity can offer.

Through the @webatuckfarmers Collaborative, WILDSEED, @sweetfreedomfarm and @rocksteadyfarm are growing this vision through land access, shared infrastructure, and cooperation.

Sweet Freedom’s work bringing fresh food to incarcerated people extends that care beyond prison walls, affirming everyone’s right to nourishment and dignity.

Thank you, Sweet Freedom, for gathering us around the sweetness of this work. May what we seed become sustenance, healing, and freedom for those who follow.

Thank you to Sweet Freedom Farm for having us at your second annual Sorghum Harvest Festival. Went in knowing almost nothing to learning the growing process, drying, how it's processed and even got to check out the coolest maple tap setup I've ever seen, felt like everywhere I looked there was tube weaved through the trees.

The work you’re doing to connect farms and farmers with incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people is so inspiring. From the educatiy on creating more farmers to the cohorts creating land stewards, you're building out an ecosystem and it's beautiful to see.

We hope to make an impact just as meaningful one day.

We gathered with full cups, full hearts, and abundance overflowing.

Our Tea & Tinctures gathering brought BIPOC philanthropy leaders to WILDSEED to slow down, nourish ourselves, and pour into one another.

Over good food, delicious teas, and healing tinctures, we shared stories, resources, connections, and possibilities—tending our collective wellness alongside the futures we’re growing.

Grateful for everyone who brought their wisdom, warmth, and generosity to the table. May what we seeded keep blooming. 🍵🌺

Had a great weekend connecting with some Northeast world builders at @wildseedsfund Konbit.

Exploring food forests, learning about nature based solutions, and seeing swales and hillside setups in action. It's stunning to see everything we talk about at conferences all on one land.

The weekend also gave us a whole new appreciation for rain and how much life it brings with it. It was the dark backdrop that made everything pop. The apples looked richer and redder, the collards were a deeper green, and the colors all around felt more vibrant.

We really appreciate being in community and learning alongside future thinking landowners, farmers, stewards, and advocates who are thinking deeply about what we can build toward.

A more self sufficient ecosystem. A more connected way of living with the land.

We're grateful to be part of the conversation and excited to keep learning, building, and getting my hands in the soil.

Come through and harvest with us at our Roots of Abundance Konbit Day on Saturday, September 26th where you’ll have an opportunity to bask in the bounty of our food forest and take home produce from other local farms.

Our Konbit Days are inspired by the Haitian Creole tradition of mutual aid. These gatherings annually bring together over 100 BIPOC, immigrant, and working-class community members annually to plant, harvest, weed, eat and build together in a spirit of collective care and shared labor.

This family-friendly gathering is an opportunity to connect with the land, one another, and the abundance of the season

The day will explore regenerative farming practices, herbal creations, tea tastings, hands–on learning, and an introduction to WILDSEEDs Learning Grove.

Join us this Saturday 9/26 💚 We will continue celebrating the Fall Equinox! As light and shadow meet in equal measure, we are listening to the land: gathering what has ripened, releasing what no longer nourishes us, and rooting more deeply into all we love.

Please join us on Saturday, September 26, for our Roots of Abundance Konbit Day: a collective harvest of our food forest and a celebration of all that becomes possible when we tend the land together.

We will gather in the spirit of Konbit—the Haitian tradition of neighbors coming together to share labor, food, knowledge, and care. You’ll have an opportunity to bring home produce from WILDSEED and other local farms.

Like the seeds being gathered now, so much of what we are cultivating may not yet be visible. But beneath the surface, life is organizing itself. Roots are deepening. Partnerships are taking shape. A more just and regenerative future is being prepared.

May this turning of the season remind us that rest is sacred, harvest is collective, and both light and shadow belong to the work of becoming.

@nefoclandtrust We The Land 2026 was a blast. Lots of love, lots of land, lots of sharing , lots of caring, lots of fun.

We went from farm tours to convos about cooperative building , conversations with our elders to mushroom 101s and making paper with knotweed. There's too much talk about and gonna spend the next few days letting it settle in our soul.

Every hour learned something new and grateful for the hosts and everyone involved sharing so much of themselves!

Ps. If you get a chance, check out Smith college - the campus , greenhouse and pond are STUNNING!
