R12 Regionals 🤟🏼

Got to kick it in Bend for rope regionals (and a little kicking it at bouldering regionals) for the week and it was a grand time ✨

I chiefed the youngest kids for my fist time (for ropes) this week and I was nervous about not being able to balance respecting them as competitors and making sure they have a good time and continue to fall inlove with the sport. Overall, I feel psyched about that balance; the separation was amazing and the routes didjt just lend themselves to “the tallest kid wins” which was my hope. It was also great hearing the kids saying things like “I can’t wait to climb that” as well as “that route was really hard but it was fun” I did my best to go the extra mile and put as much effort as I could into the experience and I’m happy with it 🙏🏼

I really dig setting for the young one, I feel like it asks really fun questions of me as a setter and also puts me out of my comfort zone in ways that helps me grow as a setter! Shoutout to @chandler_stotts for kicking it with me on the youngens and shoutout to everyone I met an got to work with this week yall are so cool ❤️

Also congrats to @brandonlcortez , @bradyrussin_17 and @chandler_stotts on your new air mattress ✨

⚡️Lightning Rounds ⚡️
70 seconds on. 70 seconds off.
Short clock = Quick decisions. Comp day shouldn’t be the first time athletes feel pressure. #climbingcoach #climbinggym #rockclimbing #compclimbing #bouldering

National Champion…

I have dreamt of this moment for most of my life.

I went into the Boulder event hoping to make finals not expecting anything from it. Throughout the last two years I have been more focused on Lead training and Lead comps. I kinda saw Boulders as my secondary discipline. Don’t get me wrong I’ve been training super hard for boulders as well but just haven’t been as psyched as I was for lead. After Qualifying for the Lead National Team I went into boulders with an open mind and just tried to have as much fun as I could. After Boulder qualifying I ended up getting the flue and told myself to just have fun and give it everything because semis could be my last round. I ended up making finals and having one of my best performances of my career this far. I went in feeling confident and happy to just be competing in finals I haven’t competed in boulder finals since 2021 so it felt great to be back. This is the first Nationals final I haven’t felt nervous for and haven’t been afraid of underperforming. I had built no expectations for myself or thought of how other people expected me to climb. I felt like I performed so much better without feeling like I had to live up to my expectations or someone else’s. For one of the few times I felt like I was climbing for myself and no one else. I am beyond happy with this result but am even happier with how I climbed. So excited to have qualified for Worlds in Finland 🇫🇮

I want to thank my parents for supporting me throughout the last 10 years and helping me achieve my dreams I couldn’t have done it without you guys.

I would also like to thank my coaches @bend.endurance.academy. Over the last 7 years that I have worked with Mike he has help me grow so much as an athlete. Thank you for everything you have done for me. Cate for giving advice with my nutrition and hydration especially this year. And setting Banger Moc rounds. @k_b896 cause he’s just the Goat and sets bangers.

And Last but not Least @robinoleary and @alex_puccio89 without the training plans and trips to Colorado to work on my technique and mental strategy this wouldn’t have been possible. Thank you guys for everything I truly appreciate it.
