Thanks so much for all the wonderful enthusiasm for these murals! We really appreciate it. Here’s the last of the bird mural trio this one comes in at 12’ x 7’ and focuses on a sunny meadow scene. Big thanks to everyone who worked on this with us at the workshops! It all came together so well.

We, @ver_sands, were thrilled to receive this mural project from the City of Burlington for the new Robert Bateman Community Centre. The project started with community art events at both the centre itself and the Burlington Performing Arts Centre. People of all ages started with templates of birds, flowers and butterflies and drew their own patterns with black crayons and markers. They then found a spot on our big canvas and added to the group collage. We filled the spaces in between. Once people got over their nerves and saw how their patterns interacted with everyone else’s, we couldn’t stop them from drawing more. It was amazing to see and so much fun!

Next step was taking photos of these wonderful flora and fauna and adding them to our (massive) computer file where we illustrated our own birds, flowers and landscapes inspired by the artwork of Robert Bateman. It really came together beautifully and we loved this interaction between the realistic elements and the more stylized birds and flowers. We hope Robert Bateman approves.

Finally got to see the final art printed and installed at the grand opening. Beautiful print and installation work @category5imaging. It was especially cool to see some of our workshop participants show up and find their own birds. Hopefully this inspires more people to draw and to enjoy the nature in our area.

Thanks for all your work on organizing this Kim Selman and @cityburlington it was such a special project and nice to do this at an area where we had both spent our teenage years.

We should feel joy doing art but often our insecurities stop us from doing it at all. Even being a full time artist I struggle with this, so this workshop/mural project was such a good reminder that sometimes you just need to be silly. Start with something simple, build your confidence and work up from that. The simplest of patterns and scribbles can turn into something beautiful… if you just take the chance.

I have grown through so much and will continue to do so with an open mind and heart~ 💖

I remember when I was younger I would write so many poems about birds stuck in a cage - trapped in the confines of cold bars. But not this bird, this bird is recuperating to take flight beyond the borders of self-doubt in this piece titled You Grow Through What You Go Through.

This collage was created (in company of exhibit neighbour & collaborator @sunofaquarius ) and featured in @torontotyes ResilienTOgether Amplifying Voices exhibit (thank you @tonyxtones for the opportunity! 🥰)

And NOW a 20” x 30” photo lamination print is up for 💫AUCTION💫 to support @ywstoronto Time4Change fundraiser for this year’s theme “grow through what you go through” in partnership with @artsetobicoke

✨Check out @ywstoronto page for details✨ Support the cause before the closing event on March 2 at Neilson Park Creative Centre!

✨MSA MURAL REVEAL!!!✨

I’m so beyond proud of this massive accomplishment in my graphic design career! I present to you my MSA mural displayed in @mohawk.college @msamohawk.

My mural design was created to provide a space for clubs and communities to share info, posters, pop up events and more! The clubs yellow is an iconic MSA colour that is dominant throughout the design, while incorporating all the other department colours into the design as well.

Poster frames will be installed shortly where club members will be sharing key happenings, fun events and more!

I want to thank Mohawk College and the MSA for trusting me with this amazing project. Thank you @category5imaging for the vinyl installation, your team knocked it out of the park!

✨A special thank you to my wonderful colleague UX Graphic Design Specialist @emilymcgregory for trusting me as your Lead Graphic Designer and with this mural, it’s such an honour and a dream to create this. 🤍

I’m so excited to end off 2023 with a bang! I am beyond excited to see where 2024 takes my Graphic Design journey!!

P.s. be prepared for more posts on this mural soon!!!!! SO STOKED! At let me know what you think in the comments!!! 🙂

Our first-ever, live and in-person, Time4Change Art Activism Gallery was an absolutely magical evening. With over 30 artists participating, and 78 works of art, we explored the realities of youth homelessness and started conversations about how we can make change happen within our community.

Thanks to you, we were able to raise a total of $44,655.75 for our Emergency Residential Program here at Youth Without Shelter!

Thank you to our Sponsors: our Presenting Sponsor, Mantella Corporation, and Sponsors Tangerine Bank, Pattison Outdoor, and Category 5 Printing.

Thank you to our friends at Wry and Ginger who helped us design our TTC creative this year: "Homelessness is NOT a Crime. It's a Social Issue."

To our Volunteers: in so many ways, YWS simply could not do what we do if not for you! Thank you for helping us with the event from start to finish. And thank you to the Toronto Reference Library for hosting us!

To our T4C Artists: we were all so blown away by the talent and the passion behind your work. Thank you for joining our movement to make change happen and support youth experiencing homelessness. Together we have the power to change the narrative and spark discussion in our community.

Together, we are ending youth homelessness one youth at a time, one step at a time.
