We’re back with another spotlight on a Kohl’s associate that was hired through the NRF student program! Today, meet Catrina! Check out what she had to say about NRF and her #LifeatKohls experience:

I was introduced to NRF my sophomore year of college by the head of our merchandising program, Professor Marissa Zorola at the University of North Texas. Fashion internships in DFW were hard to come by, so I used my resources — NRF had sent me an email about their Career Fair. I wasn’t able to make it in-person like the event was originally intended, but thankfully the stars aligned and it went virtual!! I signed up for many booths but Kohl’s stuck out because the interview felt like I made a real human connection. It was kismet, and I was thrilled to receive next-steps from them.

It was love at first interview. Kohl’s had the warmest and friendliest people. They care. They nurture your growth. As a team, Kohl’s people want to help each other succeed so they all succeed. I needed to be a part of that.

The internship was organized to a T built to foster our growth as introductory employees. Kohl’s hosted classes that would introduce us to different departments and functions and we truly learned how to work within the company. We were paired up with a coach who taught us hands on how to do their job and be a part of their team, and we attended many important cross-functional team meetings to get a taste of how we worked alongside our partners. Kohl’s provided housing where I lived across the hall from who would come to be one of my closest friends. Kohl’s really knows how to hire because every fellow intern I met was friendly and incredibly driven — it was my goal to meet 100 people and I doubled it! The Early Talent team also made sure to show us the best of Milwaukee with plenty of fun intern events around the city.

Check back with us in a week for our next spotlight!
