Third on the introduction list is our new Staff Writer, Caydie Tampac! "I’m Caydie and I’m so excited to introduce myself as Insight Magazine’s newest staff writer! As a sophomore, I’m majoring in Journalism and minoring in Creative Writing. Naturally, I’ve always had a love for reading and writing and grew up reading magazines. In elementary school, I’d wait every month for the newest issue of my favorite magazine to ship to my house so I could binge read all day. Now, I’m making little me’s dreams come true by working with Insight Magazine, from writing articles as a volunteer last year to becoming the staff writer. I can’t wait to create more stories and share other people’s writing for everyone to read and admire!" What began as a few musicians connecting through Instagram DMs has quickly evolved into one of Las Vegas’ most compelling heavy bands. In just over a year, Aethereal has released multiple projects, developed a sound all their own, and built a reputation for blending dreamy shoegaze textures with crushing metal intensity. At the center of it all is vocalist and bassist Cheyenne Lizotte, whose vocals effortlessly shift from ethereal melodies to powerful screams. But Aethereal’s newest EP, Rebirth, is more than just a collection of songs. Written during a period marked by burnout, mental health struggles, personal challenges, and self-reflection, the record explores what it means to confront pain, heal from it, and continue moving forward. From feelings of being trapped and lost to finding self-worth and renewal, each track captures a different stage of that journey. For Aethereal, growth isn’t something that happens once and ends. Truckee band Serendipity is proving that sometimes the best things start with a simple idea between friends. 💞 Formed by best friends Dani Mason and Ruby Makoutz as teenagers, the band blends edgy pop punk energy with dreamy indie rock, creating music that feels both nostalgic and electric ❤️🎸 Inspired by the Riot Grrl movement and bands like Reno’s Worm Shot (now known as Cross Stitch), Serendipity is also helping bring more female representation into punk and indie spaces. The band hopes that by being on stage, younger girls in the scene can feel empowered and see themselves reflected in the music community. 🎶🎤 Since forming in summer 2024, they’ve already played over ten shows across the Reno area, including The Holland Project, Midnight Coffee, Pizzava, and Dawghouse, bringing their friendship, passion, and gritty melodies to every stage they step on! Dawghouse wasn’t just a venue, it was a backyard turned into a welcoming space for artists of every kind in the Reno community. From the very first show in July 2024 to their final run in November 2025, Kelly Mader and Yaneli Pascual-Cruz opened their home with intention, care, and so much love. ❤️ What started as a “silly little side quest” grew into a space where musicians at every stage felt welcomed, neighbors became supporters, and creativity was allowed to be flourish and grow!🎸👀 Dawghouse gave local bands a place to try, to grow, and to shine. It gave vendors, artists, and organizers a platform. It gave the community something rare, a reminder that you don’t need a polished venue or endless resources to make something meaningful! You just need passion, trust, and people willing to show up! ⭐️🌟 Their final show in November was everything Dawghouse stood for. Music layered with warmth, bundled crowds, joyful noise, and tangible impact. Through ticket sales and donations, they raised over $1,000 for local nonprofit organizations, choosing every time to reinvest directly into Reno 🫶 We’re endlessly grateful to have collaborated on that last run, but more importantly, we’re grateful for Kelly and Yaneli themselves. For their generosity. Their vision. Their belief that community comes first. Even though Dawghouse has closed its doors, its impact is stitched into this scene forever, in the bands who found confidence there, the friendships formed in the crowd, and the inspiration left behind for anyone dreaming of building something of their own.
