POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

so much intentional, hearty, hearty work went into the visual art we draped across this BODY OF WATER release. Follow these artists, hire them, trust them with your life:

@cbruyac nailed all the sweet little details in the graphic design for the CD art and lyric sheet 💿

@nice_folk pulled this glimmery design right out of my dreams so that @dearpreparator and @maryantoniaa (and my literal dad) could slap it onto these perfect tote bags and sweatshirts with generous determination ⚡️

@alainakmullin taught me how to do the polaroid emulsion lifts, because when I saw one of hers two years ago I knew that’s what I needed to do for the album art (for the album that didn’t even exist yet) 🦢

I sent @jhmichels on assignment to snap a few polaroids of our beloved lake superior (placed on the show flyer and the lyric sheet and single art for Good Impression) 🫡

each of these projects took an immense amount of hands-on care and patience, and every artist stunned me with the way they brought these ideas to life 🌊✨♥️ most of all I reckon we had some fun 😌

listen to the album!
buy the merch!
tell your friends!
publicly support the artists you believe in!
go out of your way!
make stuff with your hands!
make stuff with your friends!
aggressively!
tenderly!
honestly!

you won’t ever regret showing up 🥹

I wrote a short essay on being earnest, link is in my bio. I hope you read it.

I’m doing the post-divorce dating thing right now, so that’s my current lens, but the essay applies to friendships, creative work, and careers.

MERCH 🌊✨💕 now available on bandcamp!

it was important to me that the album’s release feel like it was truly delivered from my hands to yours. A big part of that was what I’d offer for merch! I’ve chosen these things because they’re things I would like 🥰 I have many artists to feature and processes to share, with a proper post very soon.

For now, I send all my awe and thanks to:

@cbruyac for the gorgeous graphic design for the album cover and lyric sheet 🔎

@nice_folk for the perfect shirt/tote design 🎀

@dearpreparator for tackling (and I mean tackling) the screen-printing 💪

@alainakmullin for teaching me how to make these polaroid emulsion lifts 💧

@jhmichels for taking some of the polaroid photos used in the album art 🎞️

Second Story Presents...

DIY Design: Event Flyers 101
with Camille Bruya

A workshop to improve your visual identity through event flyer design, utilizing free and open-source materials.

Wedneesday, November 18
7-9pm at Second Story Studios
NE PDX! RSVP for address!
$60

...

About the workshop:

When it comes to promoting yourself and your music, you shouldn’t settle for run-of-the-mill visuals. But sometimes hiring a pro visual designer isn’t possible. That’s when the knowledge of design principles and their application can come in handy, and knowing where to find open-source assets to support your visual identity.

We’ll start the workshop learning the basics of design such as color, composition, typography, and where to access free-to-use content. Then using Canva’s free software, we’ll create a digital flyer together—Camille will provide sample information and materials to build out the design, or you’re welcome to create a flyer for your next event utilizing Camille’s provided assets. At the end of the workshop, you’ll receive dozens of free fonts, illustrations, and backgrounds, as well as links to download open-source materials for future designs.

It’s recommended that you bring a laptop, tablet, or smart phone to design with, as well as to create a free Canva account beforehand.

...

About Camille:

She has worked both in-house and freelance for numerous music-related entities such as Red Light Management and the Mt. Hood Jazz Festival, as well as one-on-one with local and touring musicians. Things I’ve Said Before is 1 year old today🩵 my debut album! writing these songs made me feel like I could be a songwriter, and that’ll never not be true no matter what periods of doubt I go through. I’m so grateful for the path this music put me on, even the storm we’re currently driving through in Connecticut lol. and I’m grateful I can do it all with Gabe, someone who sees the future when I can’t. AND we get to call ourselves touring musicians just bc we go on tour as musicians!!? what a dream!

to celebrate 1 year, I put the DELUXE version of the album up on my merch store!! I’ve already been selling these CDs on the road and now you can buy one online before the extra tracks come out on streaming platforms! there’s some acoustic versions on there so it’ll basically be like you saw Gabe and I play a show:)
