Much gratitude to @_fernandopintado and @jaimethegreek at @recinto_cerra for manifesting ‘a love letter to the future’. Apple Cheeks survived the flight (thanks @billabdale for ensuring its safe passage) and is living among friends for the next few weeks. The artist-run spaces and galleries we saw in San Juan are delivering up some incredible shows.

A selection of pics that will keep me dreaming about the next time. Presenting a strong case for, if you want to have fun with charm and delight, spend a summer where? In Puerto Rico 🇵🇷

Mantis survived the storms! The wings opened up in the rain, making it appear as though it’s about to take flight 🧚 Looking forward to seeing how it continues to change as it weathers more storms.

Huge thanks and congratulations to @benqart @redshoestudios @christian.salvati.arte at @art06870 on their new residency and art space in the woods. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to experiment with something new.

Swing is swinging @cur.mudge.on @ni____________ne until April 4th. I think a lot about the city person longing for the wilderness, I consider myself one of these creatures. Protect the earth of course, but I also try to remember we are in fact nature, and everything is chemicals, the artificial-natural continuum is actually a spiral, and we just have to be available to receive the sublime wherever we are. @will.kaplan says it much better in this companion essay to the show, excerpted here. Show curated by @jordanmsegal

“A city’s gray compartments stoke this chaos, and force us deeper into the wilderness of our imagination. The outcome is art that both marks and makes an irreducible sense of place. From this vantage point, the artists of Anywhere but Here humbly reflect their surroundings into an environment capable of nurturing all life. This survey of Landscape’s many modes–mournful, imaginative, polemical–does not simulate the Sublime, but longs for its harmony as a way of being. These artworks offer dispatches towards the widest scope of our collective home, remade and re-mended outside of our own image.” -Will Kaplan

Open Sat/Sun 1-6p

Big props to @dominicterlizzi for both curating and building the coop 🔨

Kneel and Yawn were the first two chicks I hatched.
They are tucked into the entryway of the gallery and, for me, the heartbeat of the show 💛 Common gestures that can be charged up with emotion (anyone else yawn when they’re nervous?)

🌟 The @underdonk auction is live 🌟

Members and invited guests have donated work to support the daily functions of our artist-run space. Help keep the lights on by bidding on some excellent works! Can you even believe this @ssarahgrass drawing starts at $350?! Same for my lemony wall relief. So much great stuff. Link in bio!

Bird and Cat

@dominicterlizzi found these display panel scaffolds, and it got us thinking about a mini convention in the woods. So we made tons of bird and cat buttons, played around with some methods from our studios and popped them up in @theclearingcragsmoor with @good_naked and the fam 🐈🕊️
