Get to know our newly promoted Corps de Ballet dancers! ๐Ÿ’š โฃ Kiera Morgan is originally from Florida and started her professional career at Charlotte Ballet. She studied with teachers and choreographers including Patricia McBride, Mark Diamond, Lazlo Berdo, Jeanene Russel Perry and Traci Gilchrest Kubie. A highlight was her opportunity to perform "Scherzo" by Mark Diamond, later teaching much of the choreography to the main company. In 2019 she joined Richmond Ballet as a second company member, performing in Balanchine's โ€œTheme and Variations." After taking some time away from ballet in 2020, she danced professionally in South Carolina for three years, performing works including Salvatore Aiello's "The Waiting Room." โฃ โฃ In 2024, Kiera decided to put her professional career on pause to continue refining her ballet training in Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre's Graduate Program. In 2025 Kiera joined Ballet Tucson as an Apprentice. During her time with Ballet Tucson, she has performed in many works including being an original cast members of Margaret Mullinโ€™s world premiere of โ€œDesert Dwellerโ€ and part the regional premier of โ€œBoleroโ€ choreographed by Ron Cunningham. Get to know our newly promoted Corps de Ballet dancers! ๐Ÿงกโฃ โฃ Maya Hughes is from Tucson, Arizona and started her formal ballet training with the School of Ballet Tucson at the age of 3. She continued her training under Pamela Reyman-Hughes and Jeffrey Hughes under whom she had the opportunity to perform roles such as the Sugarplum Fairy in The Nutcracker, Big Swans in Swan Lake, Variations in Paquita, 3rd Shade in La Bayadere, Mazurka, Prelude, and Pas de Deux in Les Sylphides, among other classical works as well as being featured in multiple original works by Jeffrey Hughes. She then obtained her BFA in Dance at the University of Arizona where she performed in works including George Balanchineโ€™s Serenade, Marius Petipaโ€™s Gamzatti Variation from La Bayadere, and by faculty members such as Sam Watson, Christopher Compton, Elizabeth George, Lorin Mathis, Tamara Dyke-Compton, and Marquez Johnson.
