aka the mundane yet miraculous shit moms do all day every day and often without recognition…. I filmed this last night and was about to post and then Eden’s big brother came home and it was straight into dinner > homework > bath > books > bedtime >> so by the time I got the boys down and opened my phone back up I was half asleep and then started double guessing myself…..

This morning I’m just like fuck it. If you subscribe to my *that which must not be named on here* ($ubstack) then you may have read about how I’ve been struggling with self-induced pressure to “get back to work” to create, produce, do more, holding myself up to an outdated version of Nitsa that measured her self worth based off of external achievements and accolades… The thing about motherhood is that you are literally working nonstop all day all night. “Mom tasking” ie multitasking constantly and as all mamas out there know there is no finish line, no days off, no reprieve. Ever.

I was texting with my friend @nadineartemisofficial yesterday whose son is now a beautiful young man on a solo trip hiking the Alps, but still at 19 years old and an ocean away she’s right there with him tracking everything that’s going on, making sure he has all the holistic immune boosters etc.

All this to say, moms are amazing! Yes social media is a bottomless pit of content and here I an just throwing more crap into the void but I do hope this makes some moms feel seen today!

I’m so inspired by all of you mamas of all forms and even though hashtags are apparently out of fashion #MOMCORE let’s goooo ☄️

#383 | A Second Home Birth: Vocalizing, Instinct & Skilled Support with Carson Meyer 🎙️

Birth doula and mother of two Carson Meyer joins us to share the story of her second home birth and the very different emotions that came with approaching birth after such a positive first experience.
Carson talks about the anxiety she carried in the final weeks of pregnancy, the problem with predicting when labor will begin, and her persistent worry that her midwife might not make it to the birth. We also discuss what it means to feel safe enough to be completely uninhibited in labor, why some women are quiet while others are intensely vocal, and the connection between the jaw, throat, pelvic floor, and the sounds women instinctively make in birth.
Carson shares how she prepared her young daughter to be present during labor, what happened when things suddenly began moving much faster than expected, and why her concerns about having her midwife there ultimately proved significant.
This is a conversation about trusting birth without pretending it never requires help and about the difference a calm, skilled provider can make when it does.

The key is that when you’re watching the videos or answering their questions - YOUR ENERGY IS GROUNDED. You’re in awe. You’re calm and loving it. You’re not scrunching up your face or over explaining the sounds or racing through vulnerable, visceral parts.

They’re looking to you to figure out if they need to be scared. You want them to get to the point in your prep that this is super normal, it’s what all mammals do (show them animal birth too if you want), and it’s gonna be the coolest thing ever being able to watch their baby sibling be born.

What questions do you have about this process / prep? 👇🏼

This’ll be my son’s third birth he’s attended, and my two older girls’ second birth.
