🥾 Another Case Kickstarted 🥾

A new case for a lovely lady with an upper complete and lower partial

As ever it’s all about the build to start, getting as much information as possible to begin allows @sjh_prosthetics to make me the best possible trays

This is why I’m always aiming for over extension to see all the land marks, good and bad!

This three step technique allows me to quickly and easily capture any upper edentulous impression

It’s all about repeatability!

We teach this and much more on our primary impression course (looking forward to getting back to Bath next weekend!) with our final courses for the year already sold out

Dean and I also cover anatomy and impressions as part of our full day lecture series which has availability in person in London and online in November if you want to get a head start on your cases before the new year!

We’ve been keeping a little secret… 🤍

And after what has already been quite a journey, it feels pretty special to finally share it on our 5th wedding anniversary.

Baby Pittard is due February 2027.

It’s been a long time in the making, and the last 21 weeks definitely haven’t been the easiest. We’ve been dealing with hyperemesis pretty much from the very beginning, which has meant a lot of sickness, hospital visits and some really difficult weeks for Ella.

So this pregnancy hasn’t quite looked how we imagined it would, but through all of it our little baby has been growing away, and somehow we’re already 21 weeks and over halfway there.

After everything it’s taken to get here, it feels slightly surreal to finally be able to say that we're making a little person together. 🤍

Five years married today… and next year there’ll be three of us.

How it was done 👇🏼

Backings on teeth or occlusal metal onlays on denture teeth are a NIGHTMARE. You can get them close, but getting everything to fit perfectly can mean a lot of time spent at the bench making adjustments.

Unless you utilise digital 👀

For this case, I designed the teeth digitally and printed a try-in to verify everything before any metalwork was made.

Once we were happy, I sent the files over to @adam_artframe who was able to print a model that actually incorporated the denture teeth. This meant there was no guesswork around where the metal needed to be positioned.

When it came back, the teeth just SLOTTED into place 😍

I cannot tell you how happy that made me 😂 The time spent at the bench making things fit is the bane of my life, so having everything just go together like a little jigsaw puzzle was EVERYTHING.

We saw a problem and experimented until we found a solution. And boy, was it a good one 🙌🏼

But this workflow wouldn’t have been possible without understanding both analogue AND digital dental technology.

It wasn’t about replacing one with the other. It was about combining the two to create a better, more predictable workflow.

When you come across a problem, do you think outside the box and find a better solution? Or do you keep fixing the same problem every time it happens? 👀🦷
