Quest’anno ho partecipato insieme a un amico e artista che stimo molto, @lucamaleonte , con la capsule Roma Aurea
L’idea dietro il progetto è quella di far incontrare un artista e un orafo per raccontare, attraverso un gioiello, quella che secondo l’artista è stata la romanità negli ultimi 80 anni della Repubblica Italiana.
È stata un’esperienza ricca: un processo complesso sul piano operativo, ma sorprendentemente naturale su quello artistico. Io e Luca, confrontandoci e lavorando ognuno sulle proprie istanze, ci siamo incontrati alla fine nel gioiello: una gorgiera meccanica e articolata come un racconto da sfogliare.
Lascio la spiegazione concettuale alle parole di Luca, nella sinossi scritta di suo pugno. Ringrazio lui per un’esperienza che mi ha arricchito umanamente e professionalmente e @cecchimonique per tutti gli sforzi che fa nel creare un hub creativo fondamentale per tutta la comunità.

SOL INVICTUS

L’idea dietro al gioiello è quella di raccontare Roma vista dagli archi del Colosseo. Invece di riprodurre monumenti riconoscibili, abbiamo preferito fissare nel tempo alcuni simboli: dall’acqua, culla della nostra civiltà ed elemento fondamentale per lo sviluppo urbano, che ritroviamo sia dietro l’acquedotto sia nella forma caratteristica del Tevere, ai lupi, all’inizio e alla fine del gioiello, con un mutamento di temperamento e istinto.

Al centro del gioiello, tra le nuvole, troneggia il Sol Invictus: una fusione di diverse divinità che hanno accompagnato la storia di Roma e che è poi sfociata nel culto del Sole, centrale per alcuni imperatori romani.

The new edition of the Incinque Jewels 2026 Award at Rome Jewelry Week has come to a successful conclusion, transforming the majestic setting of the Corsie Sistine into a treasure trove of art and fine craftsmanship.

Aligned with the theme “La Corona dell’Ingegno (1946–2026)” — celebrating 80 years of the Italian Republic by honoring Italian work, ingenuity, and craftsmanship — we had the pleasure of having Fabiano Trionfi with us and featuring his piece “Oltre la superficie dello spazio / Beyond the surface of space”.

For this project, I chose Lucio Fontana as a methodological interlocutor rather than as a source of forms to reproduce. His research allows jewellery to move from the surface into the spatial dimension: the cut becomes a passage, the void becomes active matter, the wound becomes an opening, and the surface becomes volume. The ring translates this logic into a bodily scale, transferring a new way of thinking about space into metal.

The Artist

Born in Rome in 1965, Fabiano Trionfi is a painter, goldsmith and artist. After attending art school, he graduated in History at university. In 2020, he founded Ritrov_Arti, a creative studio and space in Rome. His jewellery practice is rooted in experimentation, combining lost-wax casting with handcrafting. He primarily works with bronze and silver, pairing them with precious and semi-precious stones. @fabianotrionfi @ritrov_arti

The new edition of the Incinque Jewels 2026 Award at Rome Jewelry Week has come to a successful conclusion, transforming the majestic setting of the Corsie Sistine into a treasure trove of art and fine craftsmanship.

Aligned with the theme “La Corona dell’Ingegno (1946–2026)” — celebrating 80 years of the Italian Republic by honoring Italian work, ingenuity, and craftsmanship — we had the pleasure of having Alice Popescu with us and featuring his piece “Introspezione / Introspection”.

The “Introspezione” brooch, inspired by Carlo Scarpa’s “Meditation pavilion”, is a microsculpture, a complex yet linear and orthogonal interplay of volumes that conveys balance, harmony, and contemplation. A layering of sheets of different metals and finishes represents planes of water, a central thread throughout Scarpa’s work.

The Artist

The work of Alice Popescu, an architect who later trained at the Scuola Orafa Ambrosiana, fuses art and craftsmanship. She creates unique pieces that combine beauty and harmony, reinterpreting the techniques of repoussé, chasing, and anticlastic raising with instinct and sensitivity, transforming artisan heritage into contemporary creations.

Dal 2021, la RJW si fonda su tre principi chiave: valorizzazione, condivisione e collaborazione. Un vero ecosistema culturale dove l’emozione diviene evento e dove la presenza di Claudio è stata fondamentale per creare relazioni autentiche.

Con il suo contributo ha alimentato il “Codice RJW” — un linguaggio condiviso che unisce artisti, designer e orafi in una comunità in continua crescita, capace di trasformare la materia in veicolo di pensiero.

From the darkness of the post-war era emerges a vortex of sardines, a metaphor for an Italy that transforms individual fragility into the strength of collective action. Labor, talent, creativity, and art converge into a style recognized worldwide as “Made in Italy”. The Pelagic Crown celebrates the ingenuity born from the chorus.

The Artist

In contemporary jewelry, I combine tradition with artisanal experimentation, blending precious, unusual materials and uniquely shaped stones.

Nature is my primary source of inspiration: I transform its beauty into one-of-a- kind pieces capable of moving both the wearer and the observer.

Aligned with the theme “La Corona dell’Ingegno (1946–2026)” — celebrating 80 years of the Italian Republic by honoring Italian work, ingenuity, and craftsmanship — we had the pleasure of having Fabio Cammarata with us and featuring his piece “Grimilde”.

“Grimilde” is a jewel inspired by the works of photographer and artist Maurizio Galimberti. Conceived as a fairy tale, it tells the story of a queen and her enchantments: polished silver mirrors that distort inner reality, and golden ones that always reveal the truth. The piece evokes shifting emotional states, marked by hysterical laughter and moments of uncontrollable sadness.

The Artist

Born in Caltanissetta in 1963, Fabio Cammarata graduated in Architecture and earned a Master’s degree in Fashion Design from Domus Academy in Milan (where he served as Project Leader for Jewelry Design courses until 2015). With major collaborations in fashion, including Barney’s N.Y., and a published monograph (“Fabio Cammarata – Jewelry Between Art and Design”, Silvana Editoriale, 2007), he currently teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. Since 1996, he designs and creates exclusive collections in his atelier in the Brianza countryside.

“Strati” is born from the fear of getting hurt: layers of protection we put on, one over the other, until we hide who we truly are. Echoing the spirit of Ornella Vanoni’s music, each layer holds a fragility, but also the strength of someone who chooses, despite everything, to let love in.

Beads reinterprets the lightness of Fausto Melotti through an anodized aluminum and silver choker. Hollow spheres and curved profiles follow one another like celestial bodies, but their sequence introduces an unsettling ambiguity: suggestive forms, poised between attraction, tension, and pleasure.

Artworktitle “Mutando riposa / Changing, it rests”

“Mutando riposa” stems from a visceral affinity with Burri
in perceiving matter as a living body in transformation.
Through fire and oxidations on bronze and silver, altering
becomes a generative act: destroying is recreating. When
worn, the necklace turns into an evolving sculpture, a
metaphor for human transformation suspended between
eternity and the ephemeral.

Artworktitle “Allegra”

The “Allegra” necklace stems from an ideal encounter with the painter Capogrossi. A dialogue between his Art Informel style characterized by bright colors and modular, geometric forms and my own style, which is also geometric and uses texture, movement, and color. The foundational element of Capogrossi’s work, the “comb,” is interpreted in the necklace in ways shared by both of us, such as the collage in the central element.

La collana “Allegra” nasce dall’incontro ideale con il pittore Capogrossi. Un dialogo tra il suo stile informale, dalle forme geometriche e modulari con colori brillanti, e il mio, pure geometrico, con uso di textures, movimento e colore. L’elemento base dell’opera di Capogrossi, il “pettine”, è declinato nella collana in modi a noi comuni, come il collage dell’elemento centrale. La struttura a “vortice” esprime la libertà creativa da entrambi conquistata nel corso della vita. @legioiedielli
