Boot room (or mud room) inspiration. The dream is one with a fireplace or at least a sink and a central table. But definitely practical storage and seating are a must, along with durable materials #countryhouseinteriors #bootroom #mudroom #bootroomideas 1. @simshilditch 2. @ceceelargent 📸 @paul_whitbread_photo 3. @rupertcunningham 4. @artichoke_ltd 5. @salvesengraham 📸 @simonuptonphotos 6. @salvesengraham 📸 @emmalewisphotographer 7. @rupertcunningham 8. @johnstonparkeinteriors 📸 @mikegarlickdesign 9. @rosannabossomltd 📸 @mikegarlickdesign 10. @sarahvanrenen 📸 @mikegarlickdesign 11. @rebecca.hughes.interiors 📸 @astridtemplier 12. @annahainesdesigns 📸 @mark_anthony_fox 13. 📸 @horwoodphoto (? @neptunehomeofficial 14. @basic_projects 15. @emmasherlockltd 📸 @james_mcdonald_photography

Winter always sends me looking towards the mountains.
Not for the snow, but for the feeling.
The weight of timber under your hand. The texture of stone beneath your feet. Limewashed walls that soften the light. Metals that quietly patina instead of demanding to stay new.
These homes seem to understand that beauty isn’t something applied at the end, it is built into the bones of the house.
Every material is honest. Every surface invites touch. Every room asks you to slow down.
I imagine fires burning long into the evening, boots drying by the door, windows framing forests instead of television screens and kitchens that smell of bread, reclaimed cedar and wood smoke.
And then there are the rooms I have an ultra soft spot for the mudroom, where the outside world gently comes to rest, and the bunk room, where adulthood quietly disappear for the weekend and childhood memories are made for a lifetime.
There is a generosity to mountain homes that I rarely find elsewhere. They aren’t trying to impress. They’re trying to welcome. Chalets, cabins, ranches, homesteads and cottages. They come in a range of form all with a core warmth and permanence.
Perhaps that’s why they are timeless.

Still on beautiful utility rooms with chunky sinks, flagstone floors & terracotta / deep salmon / muddy walls… they just don’t make them like this anywhere else. I found this wonderful Somerset home by @ceceelargent photographed by @paul_whitbread_photo via @peagreenlocations who hire out the most incredible homes for photography. Do you think they would let me hire this place just to pretend that I live there for a day?

Boot room goals, courtesy of the incredibly talented @ceceelargent 🤎

What was once a tucked-away utility room has been transformed into a characterful, cozy space. The secret? A mid 1800s Doulton sink sourced from @ebay, reclaimed stone flooring, and that instantly warm, earthy atmosphere created by Split Pink by @littlegreenepaintcompany on the walls.

It’s proof that the right colour can completely anchor a space, turning something purely functional into somewhere you actually want to spend time.

We love this beautifully considered bathroom designed by @ceceelargent - a masterclass in creating a space that feels calm, organic and full of character.

Featuring Farrow & Ball’s Off White and Calke Green, the palette works in perfect harmony with the reclaimed tiles, antique lace and collected objects that give this room its soul. Proof that the right colour can tie an entire space together.

Orangeries - a ‘secret’ added bonus of a room that you can gather in all year round. A welcome change from eating round the kitchen table and a special place to host.

Pristine and immaculate in these photos - the purpose of a bootroom is for all our clobber! It presents the ultimate form vs. function debate.

They are a hard working room (closely followed behind the kitchen!) and we all use it for different purposes. Whether it’s arranging flowers🌷storing shoes 👞or for wet muddy dogs 🐾

We love the interior statement a bootroom can take - balancing versatility, sturdyness and practicality - with artistic flair and elite interior styling🪞It’s always top of the list for discussion when our clients are weighing up priorities for their renos!
