EVENT DESCRIPTION:

Red Room celebrates its first Halloween with a night full of minimal, groove, and driving techno. CEJ, llego, and Hyphen all share 2 hour sets over the course of a 6 hour night. Come early, stay late, and end your night at Red Room as it’s sure to be the last space open on Halloween night.

BIOGRAPHIES:
@cej_94 - Shortly after his opening for Rrose at Podlasie Club in Chicago, CEJ makes another trip to Milwaukee for what’s become somewhat of a routine residency for Red Room at this point. He’ll be opening this time and setting the stage with proper methodical pacing.

@ll.ego_ - Previously closing out our “State of Groove 2.0” event, llego returns for a second time to deliver more rhythm to the dancefloor. With his unapologetic levels of energy and drive, expect layers of percussion with catchy vocal teases and smooth transitions…peak time grooves for peak time hours.

@hyphen.wav - Finding a new musical home in the genre of techno, Hyphen has made it a mission to fully immerse himself in the scene this year. Reinventing himself through experiences found in Chicago and Detroit, these new perspectives have led to a drastically different sound palette from the past. After running lights for Red Room for the last 7 months Hyphen is finally ready to debut in the booth with the honors of closing out our Halloween event.

THIS FRIDAY 10/2 - RROSE, FRAIL808, CEJ

Born 1969. Died 1909. UK-based DJ Rrose has found a unique niche in the worldwide techno underground while remaining equally situated in the experimental and avant-garde artistic communities. His tracks incorporate ideas from early drone and minimalist music as prominently as they do the history of dance music. Whether as a DJ, live performer, or producer, Rrose crafts sonic ecosystems with patience and attention to detail, allowing the music to unfold gradually while tapping into deep, uncharted recesses of both the mind and body.

THIS FRIDAY 10/2 - RROSE, FRAIL808, CEJ

frail808 is a chicago-based dj, hardware act, producer, instrumentalist, and audio engineer. her roots as an experimental musician and performer have driven her to tirelessly experiment with new sounds and textures - frail808’s selections are wide and genre agnostic, with a unifying penchant for driving syncopated percussion, heavy sub bass, and yearning ambience. she brings an ecstatic energy to the decks, and thrives on the energy of a sweaty, uninhibited dancefloor - her sets are often broad in scope, traveling through searing bass bangers, ethereal breakbeat, introspective deep dub, and pulsing ambient tracks.

THIS FRIDAY 10/2 - RROSE, FRAIL808, CEJ

CEJ is a Korean American producer and DJ based in Chicago. Drawing from jazz, R&B, gospel, and classical music, his work reflects a strong foundation in harmony, rhythm, and composition. His productions bring together melodic ideas, layered percussion, deep bass, and detailed textures, with an emphasis on groove and feel. Whether he’s building out complex arrangements or keeping things minimal, CEJ is focused on making music that connects emotionally while keeping people moving.

🎧 Headphones recommended for best listening experience. 🔊

A theme of extended opening sets has started to take precedence here at Red Room. For our second post in a row we’re treated to a nearly 4 hour mix, this time by CEJ. CEJ returned for his second Red Room set with every intention of building and shaping a world of soundscapes to truly lose oneself in. Naturally, he executes this sonic phenomenon with considerate pacing and sharp precision. Dive in, let yourself go, and realize how CEJ is able to morph your idea of what’s possible in this realm of music.

Our team pulled off this event in an incredibly short window and we couldn’t have done it without them. Thank you for showing up and grinding through the night to make this happen.

A huge thank you to @_anitalim , who opened up this space to share her amazing artwork and invited our community in to experience it alongside her. In her words: “This installation was really about scale, repetition, and seeing how simple forms can become something much larger when they’re brought together… I’ve always been inspired by large museum installations and public art, so this was an opportunity to create something ambitious in an industrial warehouse setting and invite the community into it. Chicago Koreatown’s involvement was especially meaningful because I wanted the event to feel open and accessible rather than exclusive.”

Thank you to @cej_94 for holding it down all night with a nonstop 4-hour techno set, and to @cocktail.collective_co for bringing the Korean cocktails that kept everyone dancing.

Repurposing a warehouse into a night like this has been a dream of ours for a long time and getting to watch it actually happen with this community was everything we hoped for.

We can’t wait to keep this series going. Stay tuned for more ktown warehouse events🖤

In just 10 days the next installment in Red Room’s underground space takes place in the form of “Metamorphosis.” Join us in a space of change and development where the only thing that’s constant is the driving beat of pure and highly curated techno. As always Red Room is limited to 100 attendees max, advanced ticket purchase is encouraged.

@cej_94 (CEJ) - Joining us for a second time at Red Room after his debut at the space earlier this year for “Reflex,” CEJ hopes to leave a lasting impression even greater than last time. He has every intention of delivering a set worth experiencing start to finish with an extended opening slot to lead us deep into the night. Come and witness a slow and introspective beginning turn to a blending and mixing masterclass all over the course of 4 hours.

@sighmurai (Sigh) - A Chicago native DJ and curator known for his musicality and versatility across genres, he merges nostalgia with innovation, creating a rich emotional connection with the dancefloor. Whether crafting a slow-burning ambiance or relentlessly shaking a warehouse, he delivers exactly what the moment calls for.

@djinsight3125 - Picking the night up where Sigh leaves off Insight is slotted to close out “Metamorphosis.” Constantly evolving and adapting to the environments around him, he pulls influence from much of his time listening to and dissecting sets from many different dancefloors. With these experiences he plans to translate words into something more physically tangible in the small yet impactful space that is Red Room.
