Over the centuries, do you know what has always withstood the test of time and technology?

Art.
Original art.
Human-made art.
Hand-touched art.

When machines began mass-producing artwork, do you know whose work still had value?
Artists.

When Hobby Lobby and Target began spitting out mass-produced Monets, do you know whose work was still infinitely more valuable?
Original artists.

When people began paying $12.99 for a print of a copy of a painting, do you know what still held infinitely more value?
The original art.

Over the years and the fears and the gears and the tears, original handmade art has not only retained its value in the face of technology, but its value has gone UP.

Because as technology takes over our lives and makes the world more efficient, people want a reminder of slow and steady craftsmanship, of knowledge and intellectualism, of a bygone era where things were “just made better back then.”

True collectors see the value in every brush stroke, and new collectors see the value in owning something touched by human hands.

So in an era where AI threatens to decimate the value of artisanship, just remember: We’ve done this before. And it’s worked out in our favor.

Sure, there will always be a market for people just looking for $4 mugs and MDF dressers and $10 TJMaxx paintings for their bathroom.

But there will ALSO be a market for people yearning for a connection to human hands — and that market appears to be growing.

So keep creating, fellow artists. Our time isn’t over.

In fact, I have a feeling we’re about to enter a period where we’re valued more than ever 🥰🙏🏻

Rules for a whimsy Halloween…

Decorate however your heart desires! This year I left the orange and black and went full whimsy, thanks in large part to some majorly cute inspo I’ve had saved for ages.

Today’s the first cool day in months here in Southern California so it felt only natural to bring on the decor! Happy Fall Ya’ll 🍂

The mini art vending machine at @beaconhillbooksandcafe was definitely a highlight of our Boston trip! I’ve been so excited to add this cute little ice cream cone print to my gallery wall. LOVE! 😍 I would love to buy one of these machines and support local artists with it. So fun!
