Before I lost my leg, I had no real understanding of what life with limb loss actually looks like. There are so many difficult parts... But one of the hardest and most surprising parts of limb loss: lack of coverage and the cost. Prosthetics that help you live a healthy and full life without a lot of chronic pain are very expensive and often deemed not “medically necessary.” Being an amputee is hard enough, worrying about how to pay for parts of your body you need just to live shouldn’t be a problem too. Celeste’s strength is nothing short of extraordinary. After surviving sepsis and losing all four of her limbs, she faced a future no one could ever be prepared for. But instead of letting it define her, she chose to fight for her life, her independence, and the things she loves. Through every challenge, she kept showing up. Celeste is rebuilding her life one moment at a time and she is proof that strength doesn’t mean never falling… it means choosing to rise again. We are so proud of you, Celeste. Hands down! She is a light, a joy and just so lovely to be around! Okay, so I know you're stunned by her smile, that you didn't notice she hasnt any hands or feet. That's ok, because if you're around her you'd know it's not what defines her! After a routine surgery last year, she had complications that led to having her hands and feet needing amputation. Thats such a difficult thing to be told, especially to a bright young lady shortly after graduating college.
