🍎🧺🥪What. A. Day. 🥪🧺🍎

We’re riding high on the success of today’s PACK Picnic!

The best part? Seeing how much this community continues to grow. There were so many new faces, including families with children who were just recently diagnosed with celiac disease (as in two weeks ago, in the case of one child). There is nothing like connecting with parents who get it, sharing experiences, asking questions and realizing you’re not navigating this alone.

And then there were the kids!!!

Watching them run around, make new friends, dig into their bagged lunches and decorate (and devour) their cupcakes with an air of total ease is exactly what PACK is all about.

Everything—the party sandwiches, snacks, cupcakes—was 100% gluten free and celiac safe, which meant that for an afternoon the kids could just be kids. Plus, their parents didn’t have to enquire about the gluten-freeness of the food at this social gathering.

A HUGE thank you to our guest speaker, psychotherapist Meg Labreche, for leading such an important conversation about the emotional side of raising a child with celiac disease and for giving our families a space to ask questions, learn and feel understood.

This day would not have been possible without our amazing sponsors: Kiwow, Neal Brothers, Pally’s, Solly’s, Purplesful Popcorn and Pod Squad Snacks. Thank you for filling our bags and bellies and for supporting this community.

Last but not least, a very special thank you to Edible Options for providing the INSANELY delicious gluten-free bread for all the party sandwiches in our bagged lunches. When a picnic full of celiac families is raving about the bread, you know it’s good.

PACK was created because raising a child with celiac can sometimes feel isolating. Days like this remind us just how powerful it is to bring families together —to build friendships, share knowledge, create safe spaces for our kids and, most importantly, show them that they are part of a pretty incredible community.

Thank you to every family who came, chatted, played, decorated, ate and helped make this day what it was.

This is PACK 🧡

What a day, Thornhill!!

Our Annual Summer BBQ was a great afternoon of good food, music, and neighbours who always show up for one another.

A heartfelt thank you to the Thornhill residents who made this such an amazing event, your presence meant everything. It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces, including our York Regional Police Chief-Designate @paulodasilva916 along with my municipal and federal partners.

To every person who came out, you are what makes this community shine. With love and gratitude. #TeamSmith

A little reminder today:

You never know what someone is carrying when it comes to food.

For some, it’s allergies. For others, health conditions, dietary restrictions, or years of feeling left out of celebrations and everyday moments.

A little more compassion goes a long way.

We all deserve to feel included at the table. ❤️

What’s one thing you wish more people understood about your relationship with food?

The real MVP of the match? Kyle. 🏆🍿

We are absolutely obsessed with this! When the rest of the table is having wings and fries, Kyle shows up prepared with the ultimate gluten-free game day snack—and still shares? That’s top-tier friendship right there.

Thank you for bringing us along to cheer on Team Canada! We’re so glad we could make game day a little safer (and a lot more delicious) for Kyle. 🇨🇦⚽️

Saturday calls for dining out! 🍜✨

This week, I was inspired by a post from @celiacstrongx and decided to visit @thebeansproutgf in #vaughan .

As someone who is always searching for safe and delicious gluten-free options, this place was such a pleasant find. Their menu offers a wide variety of Asian dishes, making it easy to find something you’ll love.

I had the opportunity to chat with the owner and learn a little about the inspiration behind opening a dedicated gluten-free kitchen. Her story was incredibly touching, and while I won’t share the details out of respect for her privacy, I truly wish her continued success and many more happy customers.

We tried the Sesame Chicken and Chicken Chop Suey, and both were absolutely delicious! 😋

If you’re living with celiac disease or managing food allergies such as dairy, nuts, soy, and more, this is definitely a restaurant worth adding to your list. Safe dining and amazing food don’t always go hand in hand—but this place delivers both.

📍Worth the drive.
✅ Dedicated gluten-free kitchen
