🥬🥩 Gwytnwch bwyd yw pa mor dda y mae ein system fwyd, a’r bobl sy’n dibynnu arni, yn ymdopi pan fydd pethau’n mynd o chwith, o lifogydd a sychder i gynnydd mewn prisiau a phroblemau cyflenwi.  ENGLISH BELOW Mae’r DU yn mewnforio tua 60% o’i bwyd, ac mae ardaloedd gwledig fel ein hardal ni ar ddiwedd cadwyni cyflenwi hir, er bod cymaint o fwyd yn cael ei gynhyrchu yma. Mae bod yn barod yn allweddol, a gall pob un ohonom chwarae rhan yn hyn. 🤝 Dewch o hyd i’ch partneriaeth bwyd leol i weld sut gallech chi gymryd rhan. Mae gan bob awdurdod lleol yng Nghymru un. Yn Tir Canol, rydym yn gweithio gyda ffermwyr a thirfeddianwyr lleol ar newidiadau sy’n gyfeillgar i natur ac sy’n ein helpu i ddeall y tir yn well, beth sydd arno a sut i’w wella – o goetir i fywyd gwyllt, pori cylchdro a threialon cnydau sy’n helpu ffermwyr a thyfwyr i arallgyfeirio ac archwilio beth y gellir ei gynhyrchu a’i werthu’n lleol. 🚜 Ffermwr neu dyfwr? Efallai y gall Tir Canol a’i bartneriaid helpu gyda grantiau bach. Ewch i’r dolenni yn ein bio i gael gwybod mwy. Diolch i @centreforalternativetechnology am eu herthygl ar wytnwch bwyd (cat.org.uk). 🥬🥩 Food resilience is how well our food system, and the people who rely on it, cope when things go wrong, from floods and drought to price rises and supply problems.  The UK imports around 60% of its food, and rural areas like ours sit at the end of long supply chains, even though so much food is produced right here. 🤝 Find your local food partnership to see how you could get involved. Every local authority in Wales has one. At Tir Canol, we work with local farmers and landowners on nature-friendly changes that help us better understand the land, what’s on it and how to improve it - from woodland, to wildlife, rotational grazing and crop trials that help farmers and growers diversify and explore what can be produced and sold locally. 🚜 Farmer or grower? Tir Canol and its partners may be able to help with small grants. “The key aspect of resilience is making the changes that you need before the big problems arise… and actually work together and share. And that’s so much stronger. And that is how nature is.” Thanks to the legendary Paul Allen from @centreforalternativetechnology and @rob.bullen_ for sharing their thoughts and perspectives with me. This reforested, experimental building ground is such a testament to imaginative innovation that gives me hope in our planet’s future. And I believe more people need to hear about this work. Honestly, I started the cycle journey this summer with the intention of collecting a multitude of stories that I’d curate and publish over time. But in the end, the journey became so complex and layered with so many unexpected experiences that I decided to loosen up a bit on my creative “goals” and just enjoy the wild ride. This story about the Centre of Alternative Technology was the only one I chose to dive deeper into because it inspired me on such a genuine, human level that I felt it was seriously worth sharing. I hope it inspires you too. Check out the full 8-minute video on my YouTube channel at the link in my bio! #traveljournalism #regenerativearchitecture #resilience

Coming Together | Dod at ein Gilydd (*scroll down for English*) Cynhaliodd timau Ynni Cymunedol Cymru ac Teg Ynni Teg gyfarfod strategol yn Nghanolfan y Dechnoleg Amgen, Machynlleth yr wythnos hon i ddatblygu cynlluniau ar gyfer cydweithio agosach yn ein cenhadaeth ar y cyd i dyfu ynni cymunedol yng Nghymru 🌱 Mae ynni cymunedol yn cynnig dewis amgen grymus wrth i ni symud tuag at system ynni wyrdd ac at gyrraedd sero net. Roedd hwn yn gyfle i ni ganolbwyntio ar sicrhau bod ein systemau cefnogi — boed hynny ar gyfer tyfu’r sector neu ddarparu’r gefnogaeth ymarferol gywir — ar eu mwyaf effeithiol ac wedi’u cydweddu’n effeithiol rhwng ein dwy sefydliad. Roedd yn ysbrydoliaeth i’r ddau dîm allu dod ynghyd yn y lleoliad eiconig a hardd hwn, ac i rai ohonom fwynhau’r cyfle i ymweld â safle Bro Dyfi Community Renewables uwchlaw’r Ganolfan, sy’n gartref i’w tyrbin gwynt Vestas a’u parc solar newydd ei osod 🌬️☀️ ************* Both Community Energy Wales and Ynni Teg teams held a strategy meeting at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth this week to develop plans for closer collaboration in our joint mission to grow community energy in Wales 🌱 Community energy offers a powerful alternative in the transition to a green energy system, and in reaching net zero. This was a chance for us to focus on ensuring that our support systems — both for growing the sector and providing the right practical support — are optimised between our two organisations. It was inspiring for both teams to come together at this iconic and beautiful location, and some of us also enjoyed the opportunity to visit the Bro Dyfi Community Renewables site above the Centre, which hosts their Vestas wind turbine and recently installed solar park 🌬️☀️ #communityenergy #energycommunities #ynni #cymuned

OUR STORY / 01 From #wedding to #reno in under 4 weeks 😅 The story of how we met in 2015 (thanks @grandcafedewildeman 😅) and lived in the South-West of England for 6 years. During that time, Rinus studied at the @centreforalternativetechnology to obtain his Masters in Sustainable Architecture. After becoming a Certified Passive House Designer, we moved back to the Netherlands where Rinus started @rinusdecrom_studiobluk. Now we're a family of four (plus 🐶), and had a fantastic day celebrating our wedding with our dear friends and family last month. Instead of a honeymoon to an exclusive location... we're spending quality time in our back garden! 😆 #RenovationProject #honeymoon #PassiveHouse

🔥 Some excellent points made by Derek Walker, the @futuregencymru Commissioner for Wales yesterday at the @afoodfestival Conference. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 It's an exciting time for food policy in Wales, with a National Food Strategy in the works – and an Expert Working Group announced this week to help shape it (members include our Chief Exec @suepr). 💯 As Derek says, fixing food has the potential to fix Wales' biggest challenges – from health and environment to a fairer, more resilient economy. And citizens must be involved throughout. 👀 All eyes on Wales as the nation embarks on these ambitious new plans.

🌳🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 The National Forest for Wales is a visionary plan for a network of woodlands across the country, bringing environmental and health benefits as well as increasing tree cover. Starting with areas of existing ancient woodland in Wales, it will encourage communities, farmers and landowners to create new forest areas. 🔗 For more info & a link to join the scheme for anyone with suitable woodland, see Linktree in our bio. 🌳🦅 How is Biosffer Dyfi contributing? During 2025-27 Ceredigion Local Nature Partnership is running a project under the Welsh Government’s Landscape Scheme to develop the National Forest within the Biosphere. One of the first round of official sites to be recognised is the Dyfi Forest. There is great potential to develop a ‘landscape scale’ section of the National Forest for Wales site across the Biosphere, with collaborating woodland organisations and owners.  In 2025 there was a two-month pilot project to investigate the possibilities. This was led by Ceredigion Local Nature Partnership and the partners were Ceredigion County Council, Coetir Anian, Coed Lleol / Smallwoods, RSPB Ynyshir, Eryri National Park Authority and Camu Ymlaen and Padarn Day Support Services. This had very positive results, showing opportunities for increasing biodiversity in woodlands, providing spaces for therapeutic and educational activities, and generating an income through timber harvesting.  Meanwhile, there are many other organisations active in woodland projects that overlap with the Biosphere, many of whom work from the National Forestry Hub based in Machynlleth. These projects include the Woodland Trust’s programme of work in the Dyfi to Dwyryd area and Coed Lleol/Biosffer Dyfi’s Awyr Iach outdoor health service. 🌳🙋‍♀️ How you can help Biosffer Dyfi is convening a thematic group to see how to make the most of this opportunity to develop woodlands in the area; and furthermore we welcome general enquiries from private landowners, or anyone wanting to know more about trees in Biosffer Dyfi. Please feel free to contact us – see 🔗 in the Linktree in our bio.

🌳🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Mae Coedwig Genedlaethol Cymru yn gynllun gweledigaethol ar gyfer rhwydwaith o goetiroedd ledled y wlad, gan ddod â manteision amgylcheddol ac iechyd yn ogystal â chynyddu gorchudd coed. Gan ddechrau gydag ardaloedd o goetir hynafol presennol yng Nghymru, bydd yn annog cymunedau, ffermwyr a thirfeddianwyr i greu ardaloedd coedwigoedd newydd. 🔗Am fwy o wybodaeth a dolen i ymuno â'r cynllun ar gyfer unrhyw un sydd â choetir addas, gweler Linktree yn ein bio. 🌳🦅Sut mae Biosffer Dyfi yn cyfrannu? Yn ystod 2025-27 mae Partneriaeth Natur Leol Ceredigion yn cynnal prosiect o dan Gynllun Tirwedd Llywodraeth Cymru i ddatblygu'r Goedwig Genedlaethol o fewn y Biosffer. Un o'r rownd gyntaf o safleoedd swyddogol i gael eu cydnabod yw Coedwig Dyfi. Mae potensial mawr i ddatblygu adran 'graddfa dirwedd' o safle Coedwig Genedlaethol Cymru ar draws y Biosffer, gyda sefydliadau a pherchnogion coetir sy'n cydweithio. Yn 2025 cynhaliwyd prosiect peilot deufis i ymchwilio i'r posibiliadau. Arweiniwyd hyn gan Bartneriaeth Natur Leol Ceredigion a'r partneriaid oedd Cyngor Sir Ceredigion, Coetir Anian, Coed Lleol / Smallwoods, RSPB Ynyshir, Awdurdod Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri a Gwasanaethau Cymorth Dydd Camu Ymlaen a Padarn. Cafodd hyn ganlyniadau cadarnhaol iawn, gan ddangos cyfleoedd ar gyfer cynyddu bioamrywiaeth mewn coetiroedd, darparu mannau ar gyfer gweithgareddau therapiwtig ac addysgol, a chynhyrchu incwm trwy gynaeafu coed. Yn y cyfamser, mae yna lawer o sefydliadau eraill sy'n weithgar mewn prosiectau coetir sy'n gorgyffwrdd â'r Biosffer, llawer ohonynt yn gweithio o'r Hwb Coedwigaeth Genedlaethol ym Machynlleth. Mae'r prosiectau hyn yn cynnwys rhaglen waith yr Ymddiriedolaeth Coetir yn ardal Dyfi i Ddwyryd a gwasanaeth iechyd awyr agored Awyr Iach Coed Lleol/Biosffer Dyfi. 🌳🙋‍♀️Sut allwch chi helpu. Mae Biosffer Dyfi yn cynnull grŵp thematig i weld sut i wneud y gorau o'r cyfle hwn i ddatblygu coetiroedd yn yr ardal; ac ar ben hynny rydym yn croesawu ymholiadau cyffredinol gan dirfeddianwyr preifat, neu unrhyw un sydd eisiau gwybod mwy am goed yn Biosffer Dyfi. Mae croeso i chi gysylltu â ni – gweler y ddolen yn Linktree yn ein bio.
