@torontotechweek took over the city this week with a milestone of over 600+ events! 💥

I am humbled to have played a small part in this historic week with AL Media’s workshop, Create More with Less: AI-Fueled Content & Effective Video. 📅

We spent our session exploring how modern tech brands can balance high-level communication strategies with ground-level video and creative infrastructure. 📹

It is awesome to see this iconic summer event cementing Toronto’s status as a top global hub for world-class tech thinkers and operators. 📍

Attending events through Toronto Tech Week, I was reminded of why it is so critical for builders to step up and actively participate in this growing movement and the importance of making space for a multitude of voices. 🎤

A huge shoutout goes to the @torontotechweek team, contract staff, volunteers, and partners who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the scale of 600+ events possible. 👏

Thank you to every attendee who brought sharp insights, tough questions, and unmatched energy to my presentation at the @wishbonearlab, an amazing 1,200+ square-foot venue that serves as the in-person component for ideas to flourish and grow.

Special thanks to my amazing partner, @_onenicole, for taking these Live photos! 📸

Let me know what your favourite session or biggest takeaway was from Toronto Tech Week and if you’d be interested to see a recording of the session, drop a note below. 👇

My life’s purpose is to advocate for nature 🌎💙

And I’m grateful that I get to do that every day through my work at @ontarionature 🌲 Also grateful for the many Indigenous knowledge holders that have generously shared their wisdom to help us decolonize our minds and hearts and make this world a better place.

This clip is from a panel I was featured at from an organization called Connecting Environmental Professionals Toronto last week.

We opened up the discussion with: why should we care about protecting biodiversity?

Please check out ontarionature.org to learn about our work and get involved!

🎥 Thank you @evergreenmedia.studio for filming and editing this clip and for your unconditional support!🥰

🌎🌱HAPPY EARTH DAY🌳💚

About 40% of all Greenhouse Gas emissions globally and we drastically need to decarbonize if we’re going to meet our net zero CO2 by 2050. To achieve these goals, we collectively need to make drastic changes and luckily, the government is providing assistance for those of us who want to lead the way towards sustainable living.

The Greener Homes Loan is an interest free loan to help Canadians make their homes more energy efficient and comfortable. This loan has a repayment term of 10 years, making it very affordable but it does have specific retrofits and renovations that fit its eligibility requirements.

These include:
Home insulation
Air Sealing
Replacing windows and doors
Space and water heaters
Solar Panel installation
Resiliency Measures

Not only will these actions help our planet, they will increase your house value and help build your wealth. In other words, eco-consciousness and climate security are steps towards the path to financial security.

If you’re interested in learning more about climate security and mitigating climate risks in Toronto real estate, make sure to attend @ceptoronto’s upcoming panel discussion on May 30th! Visit ceptoronto.org for more details!

When you put less than 20% down on a new purchase, you are required to get mortgage loan insurance from one of the 3 approved insurance providers. Consequently, you will have to add a mortgage insurance premium on top of your total loan amount.

BUT, when you opt for energy efficient renovations, you are eligible for a 25% refund on that premium which reduces your overall mortgage balance. There is a criteria for what counts as a sufficiently energy efficient home, but you could always enlist @teamdograrealestate, a LEED accredited realtor who can help you figure out what the standard is for new homes, and how to get your home there.

Or reach out to me to learn more about ways you can finance energy efficient upgrades to your home to make the most out of your investment!

Also, learn more about sustainability standards in real estate by attending @ceptoronto’s upcoming panel discussion on sustainable development and mitigating climate risks in Toronto!

Earth Day is April 22 and to celebrate, we’re bringing you an Earth Day Series where we will cover topics that show the intersection between real estate, financing, and sustainability.

First topic: SOLAR PANELS ☀️🔋
Solar Panels are a great way to bring up your house value because they generate power and reduce household expenses. But if they are rented, it could contribute to the expenses considered for mortgage approvals and lower your approval.

HOWEVER, if you sell the energy produced by your solar panels, that income can be use to help increase your approval amount so it might still be worth it to install them. 💰🤑

If you’re interested in learning more about how sustainability and real estate development, @ceptoronto is holding an panel discussion on May 30th about Toronto’s plans to mitigate climate risk in relation to real estate. Follow them to get more information!
