Community has always been at the heart of Space City Spin.

One of our longtime members and supporters recently suffered a massive heart attack. After an incredibly difficult medical emergency, he spent two weeks on a ventilator. While we’re so grateful he’s still with us, he continues to focus on his recovery.

Shawn is also the owner of MYTI Burger on 43rd Street. During his hospitalization, the business was deeply impacted. At the same time, his wife unexpectedly lost her job, and his two children put their college plans on hold to help keep the restaurant running. As if that wasn’t enough, the restaurant was recently robbed, creating yet another hardship for the family.

Shawn and his family have been a part of our community for years, and they’ve always shown up for others. Now, it’s our turn to show up for them.

On Saturday, August 15, Space City Spin, Space City Boxing, HTX Fight Camp, and MYTI Burger are coming together for MYTI Strong, a community fundraiser dedicated to supporting Shawn and his family.

Join us for group fitness classes, great food, a live DJ, raffles, and an opportunity to come together for a cause that truly matters.

You’ll also find a QR code in this post where you can:
• Book a class
• Make a donation, even if you can’t attend

Every class booked, every donation, and every show of support will make a meaningful difference.

We believe that when a community comes together, incredible things can happen. We hope you’ll join us in supporting Shawn and his family. 💙

FUNDRAISER ALERT!!! come show your support for a member of the community and his business @mytiburger ! @shawn.sal and his family have been members here since 2018, Shawn recently had a terrible heart attack and ended up on a ventilator for about two weeks. While he was in the hospital, his kids were running the business and the business was robbed. Needless to say, the family has been through it the past couple of weeks and we want to pull our community together to help him, the family and the business! Mark your calendars for Aug 15th!!!

So grateful for this village of strong and beautiful ladies who have and continue to encourage me, bully me, invite me to try new movements, motivate me, letting me hop in on your workout sesh, show up at my door to pick me up when I don’t want to go, cook for me, drive far to go to class with me, hold me accountable when I couldn’t and doing all the things so I can consistently add back working out and movement in my life.

Moving again post partum and really finding that time and a workout you enjoy to fit in your new schedule/ mom brain was just so hard and the thought of having to drop the extra 30 pounds was insane to me. Having this village of support made such a huge difference 🤍. Also having @needmoreguitars take on Mei early weekend mornings on his own while I get it in has def been a sacrifice on his sleep!

After I reached my breastfeeding goal a year ago and felt up to moving again, @murphys_lawofmotion help me find my new movement that my brain and body really needed …spin . My goal was to ride at least once a week and celebrate my birthday a full year later with everyone that’s helped me get here. And every single one of you showed up 🥹.

Grateful for @trainwithmal for always letting me back on his schedule. And @spacecity_spin @htxfc_ap for surprising me and challenging me up on the podium for an amazing bday ride! So so grateful and amazed at the speed y’all have moved to get this studio up in no time🤩.

And a huge thanks to @cesarnoparar for such a fun ride and everyone should take his class at 9am with me every Sunday 😬.

It’s been a lot of work in a short amount of time, but it feels sooo good to have completed 2 of the 3 projects I set out to complete. With the help of my staff, friends, and family, we have built a spin studio (@spacecity_spin ) and a new boxing room! Get ready for the insane collaborations that are about to go down! Thank you to all of the Space City Spin Family and the @htxfightcamp family for everything you’ve done to make us successful. Your hard work and dedication to our gym family do not go unnoticed…get ready for some big and great changes to come!
