Who gets to tell the story, and what can transpire when the camera won’t look away?

Please join us this Saturday, October 24th, for our matinee film screening and fundraiser. We’ll be screening the feature-length doc Shoot the People about photographer and activist Misan Harriman, and TikTok’s Israeli Soldiers, a short film by Toronto-based journalist Samira Mohyeddin, presented by On The Line Media.

After the films, we’re honoured to host a panel with:

📸 Misan Harriman, photographer, filmmaker, activist, big-hearted night owl, joining us by Zoom from London, UK

🎬 Samira Mohyeddin, returning champion to the panel, journalist, trained Shakespearean actor, and founder of On The Line Media

⚖️ Dr. Heidi Matthews, Osgoode Hall legal scholar and Gaza Tribunal presenter, expert on occupied peoples’ right to resistance

📷 Joshua Best, beloved Toronto photojournalist documenting this city’s movements, from Palestine marches to the bike lane removal protests happening right now

One film follows a lens pointed at power from the street. The other looks at how the zionist occupation’s soldiers post, perform and show off their depraved war crimes. Together, we will watch, listen, learn and talk about how the horrors we continue to witness daily have changed us at a cellular level and what we do next. Documenting is an act of witness and we are grateful to our panelists for sharing their work and time with us.

Proceeds are going to mutual aid for families in Gaza, Toronto Community Justice Fund and GLIA. Please bring a non-perishable food item for Community Fridges Toronto. Big love to the wonderful artist collective MakeArt4Gaza for the 4 incredible original art pieces that will be raffled during intermission. Don’t sleep on getting your ticket !

🗳️ And Monday, Oct 26: Toronto votes !!

Over the weekend, Bowery and a crew of volunteers dismantled the Church Farm on Walmer Road. Since June, we’ve donated over 75kg of food to the laneway fridge, which doesn’t allocate for food crops that were enjoyed onsite by folks in the Annex neighbourhood. Oftentimes, locals would arrive at the farm with a bowl and a pair of scissors to collect goods for a meal back home. And for many, this access to fresh produce was a blessing.

Bowery is grateful for farming at this location for the past 5 years. Thank you to TAS, Walmer Road Baptist Church, and Community Fridges TO for such a memorable collaboration! 💫

Culture is a critical part of the class struggle. ✊🏽 Thank you to all the artists who performed at the 2026 People’s Fair, bringing music, poetry, dance, and histories of resistance into our shared space. Your time, labour, and artistry helped make the Fair an expression of anti-imperialist solidarity and internationalism.
May we continue building a culture of resistance together.

🍅🥬 New essay in @globeandmail today on the @karmacooptoronto x @cf___to garden, and everything this tiny project did for me and the community this year. It‘ll be in tomorrow’s print edition. Feeling appropriately grateful to have this piece about connection and shared abundance published on Thanksgiving.

Thank you to every organization that joined us at the 2026 People’s Fair! ❤️

The Fair came alive through the political work, histories of struggle, and commitment to the people that each organization brought into our shared space. From Palestine solidarity and anti-imperialist organizing to labour, tenant, student, community, and international solidarity struggles, the Fair was an opportunity to meet one another, exchange experiences, and strengthen connections across movements.

We also extend our gratitude to everyone who contributed prizes to our raffle fundraiser in solidarity with Cuba.

Solidarity is built through working together, supporting each other’s struggles, and developing trust through common political work.

May the connections made at the People’s Fair grow into lasting relationships of cooperation, solidarity, and collective power.

Thank you, comrades and friends, for building this space with us.

Long live international solidarity!

🌱 TORONTO PREMIERE OF SEEDS FOR LIBERATION 🌱

Tomorrow is the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11th; a day that fundamentally reshaped foreign policy and civil liberties. And there’s nowhere we’d rather be tomorrow than with the community we love, watching Seeds For Liberation, which is Matthew Solomon’s newest documentary.

Seeds for Liberation connects the fight for Palestinian liberation to Black, Chicano, and Indigenous resistance, because none of these struggles are separate. No empire has ever fallen without solidarity across borders. None of us are free while people are caged, occupied, bombed, or starved. From Palestine to Turtle Island to the Global South, our liberation was always going to be shared, or it was never going to happen.

We are thrilled to have Matthew join us in person for the Toronto Premiere. He’ll be joined after the film by our wonderful panelists - Mskwaasin Agnew, Mariana Medellín Canales, Jane Yearwood and a member of Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) Toronto, for an important conversation we don’t think you’ll want to miss.

There’s a bake sale with sweet and savoury offerings, drinks, merch, and an art raffle with pieces from Make Art 4 Gaza plus an original piece from Mariana.

None of this happens without you. Everyone who packs the theatre, volunteers, donates to the bake sale, brings a non-perishable food donation, and buys an art raffle ticket makes these film screening fundraisers possible.

Every dollar goes to mutual aid for families in Gaza, Grassy Narrows First Nations, Glia, the Toronto Community Justice Fund, and East End Acts. Please bring one non-perishable item for Community Fridges Toronto (in the east end) if you can.

Friday, September 11
Doors 6pm | Film 7pm
📍 The Redwood Theatre

We love this community. Come be in the room with us. Help us water the seeds for collective liberation.

🍉 Free Palestine, Free Us All🍉
🎟️ Tickets: link in bio.
♿ The Redwood Theatre is wheelchair accessible. There is a single stall, accessible all-gender washroom. There is an industrial HEPA air filter in use. Masks are encouraged and will be provided. Street parking is free after 6 p.m.

🍅 🍐 🥕 We provide the produce at wholesale cost, not retail, so your contribution to this fund goes even further. 🫑 🌶️🥬

Your contribution ensures that the fridges are stocked with nutrient dense, locally grown and culturally relevant produce on a weekly basis throughout September to November to support people who are facing food insecurity.

🌟 Logistics 🌟
We provide pickup for Community Fridges Toronto to gather the produce every Thursday between 3pm and 7pm directly at our booth at Dufferin Grove Farmers Market, where they are collected by volunteers from Community Fridges Toronto and are distributed by volunteers from @thebikebrigade .

See our website for details and to contribute.
