A Swedish Grace apartment from the 1920’s at Norr Mälarstrand in Stockholm. In this interior design project, we specially emphasized preserving original qualities.

Some of these features included the oak parquets, decorative wall murals, vaulted arches, a fireplace relief and original woodwork. We combined this with new additions and custom made solutions, as well as sourcing vintage furniture and curating contemporary art.

10 YEARS AGO TODAY, I BECAME AN ARTIST.

Not because someone gave me permission.
Not because the art world welcomed me in.
But because I finally had the courage to call myself one.

October 7, 2016, I opened my first exhibition, “My Red Is Not Your Red.”

I had no idea where that night would lead me. I only knew I had something inside of me that needed to be seen.

That exhibition changed my life.

Since then, these hands have painted through love, heartbreak, grief, fatherhood, loss, faith, rejection, beautiful opportunities and moments when I truly didn’t know how I would keep going.

But I kept creating.

The work took me places I once only imagined. Across cities, countries, museums, galleries, public spaces and into the homes of people who believed in my vision. But the greatest distance I traveled wasn’t across the world.

It was the distance between the man who was afraid to call himself an artist and the man I am today.

And somehow, after everything, I still feel like I’m just beginning.

I look back at that first show with so much love for that version of me. He didn’t know what was coming. He didn’t know how many times his heart would break, how many doors would close, how many beautiful ones would eventually open.

He just knew he had to make the work.

Sometimes your beginning doesn’t look like your destiny.

Keep going anyway.

Ten years later, my red is still not your red.

And now I understand why.

It was never supposed to be.

Happy 10 years to the artist I had the courage to become.

Big Bless. 💫❤️

My very first poetry book, “My Red Is Not Your Red.” A small collectible I created and gave away at my first exhibition. I still remember everyone trying to get their hands on one. Ten years later, holding it feels like holding a little piece of where this entire journey began. ❤️

I’ll never forget looking out the gallery window and seeing a sea of people who had all come together to experience my art for the very first time. I could hardly believe my eyes. More than anything, I felt proud, not just of the exhibition, but of the beautiful, healthy and supportive community I had built around me. That moment showed me I wasn’t walking this journey

“And if we continue looking down at our phones and lose our relationship with nature’s time we will lose not only relationship with the earth but with ourselves.” – @alicewsharp, CHART public programme

As the days get colder in the N Hemisphere do we still reflect on the change of the seasons? Alice was recently in-conversation with Rasmus Nielsen, one third of Danish artists group @superflexstudio as part of leading Nordic art fair, CHART in Copenhagen; their discussion focussed on the ideas of ‘Climate Clock’, connecting to stories and myths on time - seasonal change, movement of the sun across the sky, and before clocks, church bells marking time. Exploring ‘Super Kello’ created by SUPERFLEX, a beautiful permanent stone sculpture which emits audio one word per minute for ten years, a Finnish version of the Odyssey read by a local fisherwoman.
