We are delighted to celebrate the conclusion of our third year of awarding five scholarships to Forsyth County high school seniors! Congratulations to our deserving Scholarship Recipients:

Maya Pankhania and Evan Ashley from Denmark High School
Denton Long from Forsyth Central High School
Grayson Moody from Lambert High School
Faith Lortie from West Forsyth High School

Many colleagues often ask me, Michelle, how did this idea came about and why do you choose to do it each year. My answer is simple: it brings me great joy to give back to the community I serve every day through my real estate business. To date, we have awarded a total of $16,000 to high school students who demonstrate love, kindness, and leadership—values that truly make a difference to those around them and another $31,000 to various high school athletic teams in Forsyth County.

Reflecting on my journey, I remember when my family relocated here from St. Louis over 13 years ago. The Blackwelder family was a pillar of support during that challenging time—offering love, encouragement, and friendship through cheerleading, church, and small group activities.

It is also truly an honor to give back through the success of my real estate business by celebrating these young individuals each year for their integrity and character. This initiative is a heartfelt way to express my gratitude and to invest in the future of our community.

I also want to extend my sincere appreciation to all my past and present clients who trusted me to guide them through the exciting journey of buying, selling or investing —your support and continued referrals makes all of this possible.

A special thank you also goes to the over 50 applicants who applied this year, and to Becky Blackwelder, whose dedication ensures every applicant receives thoughtful consideration before we make our final decisions.

As Luke 12:48 reminds us, “To whom much is given, much will be required.” I am grateful for the opportunity to give back to the amazing community I have been blessed to raise my family in and look forward to continuing this meaningful tradition for many more years to come.

Throughout this extraordinary week, Becky Blackwelder and I have been privileged and delighted to award three scholarships worth $1000 each to our exceptional high school graduates:

❤️Emily Hanna - Duke University
❤️Nate Wimberly - Kennesaw University
❤️Giovanni Hernandez-Perez - Georgia College and State University

It’s a genuine honor for me to leverage my real estate business as a means to provide these scholarships and give back to my community. These outstanding students have showcased remarkable character and leadership, embodying a profound dedication to serving others.

My heart is full of joy as we continue the tradition, now in its second year, of granting these scholarships in loving memory of Heather Blackwelder. ❤️Anticipation fills our hearts as we eagerly look forward to awarding two more scholarships in the weeks ahead.

We take so much pride in our space. 🫶🏼

It’s our second home. The place we spend so much time away from our families. The place where we watch our dreams unfold + grow. The place where our creativity gets exercised. The place we work to pay our bills + create our dream lives. The place that no matter what’s going on in our personal lives— Sandbar will be our safe haven. 🥥🌊🐚

If you don’t feel this way about your salon home (or workplace), maybe you have something to think about perhaps.

June 24th 2020.

A day that’s so painful to relive.

The day I experienced death in a new way.
One of my best friends, in my everyday circle, someone who meant the world to me, encouraged me, looked up to me, made me smile, made plans for the future with, someone who brought joy to every single work day took her last breath on this earth after a tragic car accident.

My heart was shattered into pieces receiving that phone call that night. It was so sudden and so unexpected. We just worked together the day before, she just slept over at my house and her towels were still wet in my laundry room.

If you knew Heather you were blessed. She was the brightest light and the biggest smile in the room always. She was a talented hairstylist, amazing friend, and loved Jesus.

I miss you more than words can describe Feather 🪶 I am a better person because of you and the way you loved, supported, and encouraged me.

Today we kicked off our summer connection group called “Gaze: Fixing our eyes on Him!”

As "Gazing Girls", we will learn more about the attributes of God and grow in our personal relationship with Him, and as Paul wrote in Philippians, “make it our goal to know Him”, truly, truly know Him!

We are not just glancing at God this summer, we are GAZING at Him.

Join us next week as we learn more about the attributes of God! This group meets Wednesdays at noon!
