This week’s horror crush is a little unconventional. Michael Johnston, best known as Bear in ‘Obsession,’ has been quietly stunning behind-the-scenes for years. Horror fans perhaps recognize him as the voice of Danny in ‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’ game, but he’s lent his VO talents to plenty of other characters over the years, including in this week’s hotly anticipated ‘Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave.’ Michael Johnston will be appearing in ‘The Mummy’s’ legacy sequel soon, and while he deserves his newfound success, his charismatic voice work shouldn’t be overlooked. Voice actors are among the most underappreciated talents of our generation, so while we’re crushing on Michael, we shouldn’t forget the inimitable talent of our Kawaii King – Chad Collins

I don’t know if I can say ‘Megan is Missing’ is necessarily a good movie. Still, as a millennial, Michael Goi’s found-footage shocker was a rite of passage in 2011. Tumblr heralded it as the scariest movie ever made, and for the first hour, well… it’s sort of anything but. It’s sloppy, pedestrian, unfocused, all that… but then there’s that ending. Goi is responsible for what’s arguably one of the most disturbing horror reveals ever. So much so, yes, my social media channels are flooded with commentary this week on *that scene* in particular. Say what you will about the movie otherwise, but ‘Megan is Missing’ isn’t something you’ll just forget. If you’re willing to endure it, you can watch it streaming for free on Tubi now. - Chad Collins

‘Gothika,’ starring the inimitable Halle Berry, is one of the early aughts’ most underrated psychological horror gems. There’s a stunning mystery, stark, vivid blues (courtesy of Matthew Libatique), and some earnestly unnerving scares.
