🛻🇨🇳 CHERY STOCKMAN (GROOTMAN) - FIRST DRIVE IMPRESSIONS! 👀🔥

I’ve had a short drive in the CHERY Stockman, and honestly, I think this bakkie has serious potential!

The suspension felt excellent, the ride was soft and comfortable, and it felt capable on our short test circuit. 🙌

It’s still in development, though, and there are a few things I’d like to see refined. The acceleration and braking felt slightly disconnected, the steering was very light, and there was some road noise from the cabin.

The ride is also very soft, which might take some getting used to for South Africans who prefer a more traditional, rugged bakkie feel.

We didn’t have enough time for a full test drive, so these are just my first impressions. But get those details right, and I genuinely think CHERY could have a brilliant bakkie on its hands! 🇿🇦💪

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind. Several jaunts to to Cape, all with a different flavour. Sampling the @scuderiaferrariza Amalfi and Purosangue was a particular highlight. Now to buckle down and get the video edits out for you to enjoy. They’ll be dropping on the @autotradersa channels soon!

A day with two Italians? Don’t mind if I do.

The @scuderiaferrariza experience with the Amalfi and Purosangue allowed me to sample these two rather different machines. The Amalfi does what it says on the tin; front engine, rear drive sports car that is light, responsive, and agile. The big surprise was the Purosangue though. This howling V12 accelerates, stops, and turns in a way that completely belies its heft.

That’s a good day in the office.

Gutted. This wasn’t how we were hoping the day would pan out. Unfortunately the engine has let go on us and there’s no viable way of getting it back up and running in the allotted time.

We are so sorry to all our fans and supporters who have been so wonderful in the build up to this race; we love you all and truly appreciate all the love you have shown us. This is just one of those motorsport things; it doesn’t always go to plan and no matter how hard you prepare and try avoid catastrophic failures, they can still blind-side you.

Team Tofuhunters qualified “well”, posting a fast 2:30.704. But that’s only good enough for 14th in class, and 29th overall, placing us decidedly mid-pack. The top 30 cars are separated by 0.78 seconds 😳 it’s going to be crazy out there.
