Excited to be playing our first acoustic show ever in San Luis Obispo on 9/26 as a benefit for Chandler Haynes. Chandler is a dear friend who has been facing some serious health issues. He really is the reason this band exists, as he pushed me to get a band together 10+ years ago. Swipe for show details! So stoked to be playing such a stacked bill with a bunch of 805 legends. Wanted to share a stripped down version of what’s been going on with my Brother/business partner, Chandler. You may have noticed Chandler has not been around at the shop for the past few months. Back in early May Chan was sent to the ER with critical kidney failure. 9% kidney function to be exact.
Over the past nearly 3 months Chan has undergone many procedures and surgeries to try and get his kidneys to recover, including dialysis several days a week. Chandler has IGA-N which is an autoimmune disease. IGA-N mixed with a combination of other factors has landed Chandler in the place of needing a new kidney. He will hopefully be heading to Stanford in the next few weeks to be put on a transplant list and hopefully get the care his body needs.
Please keep Chandler in your thoughts and prayers. This has been a heartbreaking season for Chan.
I’ve had a lot of you ask how you can help and goodness we so appreciate that.
Gift cards to Trader Joe’s for groceries and Target for essentials are wildly helpful.
Door Dash or Grub Hub gift cards would also help ease an evening or two of stress.
Venmo, cash, and Apple Cash are other ways you can contribute if you have it on your heart and are able to do so. Zero pressure at all!
Chandlers wife Emily has stepped into the caregiver roll and is also caring for their 1 and 3 year old little girls. This has been a devastating experience for Chan and his family, as I’m sure you can all imagine. I’m proud of them for navigating all of this and holding it together as well as they have so far. We have good days and rough days but more than anything we are so grateful (understatement) that Chandler is still with us, and will one day be on the road to recovery.
We appreciate your understanding and grace for us here at Mule as we have had to shift some things around until Chandler gets back to work. There are a few days a week we will be closing for a half hour to relieve our crew for lunch breaks. Again, thank you for understanding and not giving up on us. Chandler is very much so looking forward to getting back to the shop, though it’s quite a ways out before that can happen. He misses you all very much…. Continued in co
