Behind every barrier to opportunity is a person, a family and a community.

Our latest Seeing is Believing visit, led by Jean Renton, CEO of @sodexouk_ire , highlighted the importance of connecting businesses with the organisations working on the ground to build a fairer, more inclusive society.

Thank you to our hosts, partners and delegates for being part of the conversation.

The government is investing £442 million to tackle rough sleeping and homelessness across the UK.

But we can't do this alone, so for World Homeless Day, Minister @florence.eshalomi visited one of @changeplease's Driving for Change buses to see first-hand the important work they are doing for people experiencing homelessness.

These repurposed double-decker buses deliver:
🩺 Free healthcare, GP and dental support
💇 Haircuts and shower facilities
💼 Employment, banking and life skills support.

To mark World Homeless Day, Minister @florence.eshalomi visited one of @changeplease’s coffee shops, which uses 100% of its profits to fight and end homelessness.

Change Please is a social enterprise that trains people experiencing homelessness to become baristas and supports them with accommodation advice, therapy, bank accounts and employment.

The government's mission to end homelessness would not be possible without organisations like Change Please.

"I still vividly remember when we had to leave and go into a B&B," says the homelessness minister @florence.eshalomi, who grew up in temporary accommodation.

Historically, she is one of few ministers with lived experience of the social issues they are tasked with tackling.

Big Issue sat down with the minister during her visit to @changeplease, a social enterprise which helps people facing homelessness by giving them barista training and a living wage job.

After she tried her hand at latte art, Eshalomi spoke to Big Issue about how the government can achieve its mission to offer people a route off the streets by Christmas – and what she plans to do next.

Pour-over kind of morning ☕️🤎

Loved making this one at home and enjoying a slow coffee moment. What makes it even better is knowing this coffee supports farmers at origin, local communities and people experiencing homelessness in the UK.

Thank you @changeplease for sending this my way.
